Vuelio Top 10 UK Literature Blogs 2019
To be honest I still can't quite get my head around this but I'm very excited to announce that Feeling Fictional has made it into the Vuelio's list of Top 10 UK Literature blogs for the third year running! I still don't quite know how my little corner of the internet ended up making the list - especially considering how fantastic all the other blogs included are! - but I'm very honoured to be there and it's thanks to all of you who visit my blog and read my reviews.
You can find the full list of blogs on the Vuelio website here and like I said already it really is a fantastic list so it's well worth checking out some of the others on there (although I expect you're already following most if not all of them!).
I wanted to say a huge thank you once again to everyone who visits my blog, when I started this back in 2010 I never expected to find such a fantastic community of supportive bloggers, authors and publicists. I definitely didn't think I'd still be blogging nearly 10 years later and I had no idea how many new friends I'd make along the way. Thank you all for helping to keep blogging fun for all these years & thank you to Vuelio for including me in the list again!

Vuelio Top 10 UK Literature Blogs 2018
Last year I was incredibly shocked and honoured to be included in the Vuelio 2017 list of Top 10 UK Literature Blogs, I'm still not quite sure how that happened if I'm honest! So I was even more shocked to receive an email a couple of days ago to say Feeling Fictional has made it into the Vuelio 2018 Top 10 UK Literature Blogs list too! You can find the full list of blogs on the Vuelio website here and once again it's a fabulous list so I'm very excited to have been included again.
Again I'd like to thank everyone who takes the time to visit my blog and read my reviews. I've made so many fabulous friends in the blogging community over the last 9 years, had the chance to meet some wonderful authors both in person and online and I've met a lot of wonderful publicists who have helped feed my book addiction with a whole heap of review copies. Book blogging is a labour of love but it's totally been worth all the effort so thank you all for your support! And thank you to Vuelio for including me in this list!

Vuelio Top 10 UK Literature Blogs 2017
So something pretty cool (and incredibly shocking!) happened a couple of days ago. Vuelio announced their 2017 list of Top 10 UK Literature Blogs and I still can't quite figure out how but somehow I ended up being included! You can see the full list on the Vuelio website here and there are some really fantastic blogs on there so I'm honoured to be included amongst them.
I've been blogging at Feeling Fictional for nearly eight years now and sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming but I can't quite imagine life without it and I've met so many wonderful bloggers, publicists and authors since I started, many who have now become great friends. I just wanted to thank each and every person who visits my blog, interacts with me here, on Goodreads or on Instagram or who helps to supply my book addiction with review copies! I don't think I'd have kept this up for so long without all your support along the way and I definitely wouldn't have made a list like this one :o)

My 3000th Blog Post Celebration (with international giveaway!)
When I first started my blog on the 1st of January 2010 I honestly never expected to still be here nearly seven and a half years later. I'd never heard of the book blogging community but I'd had a personal blog for a few years and I so when I was looking for a way of keeping track of the books I'd read a blog seemed like the easiest option. That was back in the days before I discovered Goodreads too & to be honest if I'd found that site first Feeling Fictional probably wouldn't have ever existed!
I'm so grateful to have had this outlet in my life though, the UKYA blogging community welcomed me with open arms and I made so many friends both in the UK and across the world thanks to a shared love of books. I've had so many wonderful experiences thanks to this blog, from publisher events to afternoon tea at the ritz and even spending a night at Hogwarts I've been so incredibly lucky and I'm thankful to the wonderful bloggers, publicists and authors I've had the chance to meet and work with over the years. Thank you all for reading my blog posts, for interacting with me on Goodreads or Twitter, for sending me review books, for inviting me to events and just for opening my world up to books that I'd probably never have discovered on my own.
As this will be the 3000th post to go live on my blog I thought it would be fun to look at a few random stats before I get to the giveaway! So here goes...
Feeling Fictional Stats:
- 7 years 4 months 7 days
- 3000 Blog Posts
- 1,954 Book Reviews
- Aprox 2000 Followers (across Blogger, Google +, Blog Lovin & Feedburner)
- 1,818,680 Page Views
- Let's just repeat that last one, 1.8 MILLION Page Views!
It really has been an incredibly journey and I'm hoping this is only the beginning! I just can't imagine not having this blog anymore, some months may be slower than others but it's such a huge part of me now that I wouldn't know what to do without it.
So now I'm done with shocking myself with the figures let's get to the all important giveaway!
Giveaway:
To celebrate I'm giving one winner a book of their choice from the Book Depository (to a maximum value of £10). The giveaway is open internationally as long as you're living in a country where they offer free shipping (you can check your location against the list here to be sure you're eligible).

Crazy Times
I just wanted to write a quick note to apologise for things being a bit quiet around here over the last few weeks. What with my birthday then Easter things have been pretty busy but I've also been going through a really crazy reading and reviewing slump and just haven't felt like spending much time online.
I have finally started reading again in the last few days (although I still have 6 books on my currently reading shelf that I have absolutely no interest in going back to!) but I'm still struggling to get my head in gear to actually write reviews. I'm hoping that it won't last much longer though & that I'll be back to posting as much as usual very soon.
In the meantime I hope you'll all bear with me and I thought I'd share this fun Simon's Cat video just to give you all an idea of what seems to happen in my house every time I sit down to read at the moment LOL.

Book Tag: Reader Problems
So I was tagged by the lovely Michelle from Much Loved Books to take part in this Reader Problems book tag and I couldn't resist joining her. If you want to read Michelle's answers you can find them HERE and mine are below.
1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?
This is a real problem in my house, I have so many awesome books that I'm desperate to get to and sometimes it can be impossible to decide where to start. I'm pretty much a mood reader so I'll think about what kind of book I'm in the mood for - YA/NA/Adult, Contemporary/Paranormal etc. - and then take it from there. This year I've been trying to read more of the books that I bought for myself since they've taken such a low priority since I started receiving books for review. I'm trying to alternate one review book followed by a book I bought but it doesn't often work out that way. If I sign up to take part in a blog tour then that book will get priority but other than that it'll depend what book catches my eye on any given day, I can hardly ever decide in advance what I'll be in the right mood for.
2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?
I hate not finishing books but it's something I've started getting better at over the last couple of years. I still feel guilty if I abandon something but there are so many books that I want to read that I don't see the point in forcing myself to waste time finishing something that I'm not enjoying. If you're reading for fun then it shouldn't feel like a chore to pick up your current book.
3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?
I'm actually well on track for my Goodreads challenge and was thinking about increasing my goal so this hasn't been a problem for me so far *touch wood*
4. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?
I HATE it when the covers don't match so if it's a series I love I'll often end up rebuying the books so that I have a matching set. I have seen it where the covers on particularly long series change several times over the years though so I'm now much more wary about buying books until the series is complete. If you change mid way through the series I'll stop buying print copies and switch to kindle versions until I reach the end of the series and then make up my mind on whether to buy print copies depending on whether it's a reread type of series or not. One good thing about my kindle is that I don't care what the covers look like on my ebooks because I never see them LOL.
5. Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?
My friends tend to have a lot of varied opinions about books so the chances are there will be at least one person who agrees with me. I don't have a problem if I'm the odd one out though, I'm happy to discuss books with anyone, whether they have the same thoughts as I do or the compete opposite. I actually think it can be more fun to chat with someone who disagrees with you - as long as you all remain respectful about it there is nothing wrong with a difference of opinion! I enjoy that kind of discussion with people and it can make me think about things in a totally different way.
6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?
I try really hard not to read books that are going to turn me into an emotional wreck when I'm in public. It's fine when I'm at home with a huge box of tissues and a slab of chocolate to get me through the experience but there is nothing worse than sitting on a train trying to hold back tears because a character you love has just died! If a book catches me by surprise then I'll usually end up putting it to one side and trying to do something different until I get home and can read it in private.
7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you've forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?
Before I started blogging I always used to reread the earlier books in a series before a new release came out but I just don't have the time to do that any more. I'm actually getting really fed up with YA trilogies because by the time I get hold of book 2 I've forgotten what happened in the first instalment and I know it's going to be another year long wait for the 3rd book. I will try reading the second book but more often than not I find I'm not enjoying it as much as I could because I've forgotten too much (one of the hazards of reading over 200 books a year I guess LOL). There are a lot of trilogies that I've decided to just wait until all 3 books are available then I'll reread book 1 and then dive straight into the last 2 books.
8. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?
I'm actually happy to lend out my books. Well, I guess I should clarify I'm happy to lend my books to MOST people, if you borrow a book from me and it comes back badly damaged (or doesn't come back at all!) then you'll be off my list but as long as you take care of them you can borrow as many as you like. I'm not too worried about broken spines or books showing that they've been read (even though I tend to keep them in fairly pristine condition myself) so as long as people aren't turning down the pages or REALLY wrecking them I'm fine. The only time I'm more wary about loaning books is if they're signed & that's only because I lost a few signed books that I lent to a friend who I've since lost contact with.
9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?
Thankfully I don't get in reading slumps very often but when I do rereading a favourite series or picking up a new book by one of my favourite authors nearly always does the trick. Paranormal romance and urban fantasy seem to be my go to comfort genres so even trying a new series that fits that criteria tends to give me a boost.
10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?
I buy way more books than I should and probably have books on my shelves that I'll never actually get around to reading. I'm trying to control myself more now but I do have a fair number of authors who are on my automatic pre-order list (Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews, Lara Adrian, Patricia Briggs, Jeaniene Frost and Chloe Neill to name a few - see what I mean about PNR & UF being my go to genres? LOL) but I'm trying really hard not to add any new ones. I'm also trying to be careful about not ordering new books in a series until I've read the previous one. I have so many complete series sat on my shelves where I've only ever read the first book and it's a little crazy really!
11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?
That really varies, I wish I could say I got to them quickly but the chances are most books I buy will sit on my shelves for at least a few months, if not longer, before I get to them. My to read pile has now spread to take up 5 whole bookcases so it's going to take me years to get to the bottom of it! This is why I'm supposed to be on a book buying ban but I never seem to manage to resist for long LOL. Some books do jump straight to the top of the pile though, especially if it's by one of the author's I mentioned above.
I'm going to tag:
Kirsty from The Overflowing Library
Sammee from I Want to Read That
and anyone else who wants to take part
Make sure you leave me a link in the comments if you decide to join in (or if you've already posted your answers!) and I'll come and check out your posts.

Books About Town - Hunting for Book Benches!
Me & Kirsty with Paddington Bear!
Every summer my friend Kirsty (from The Overflowing Library) comes to stay with me for a few days so we can go on a random adventure, sometimes book related and sometimes not, but whatever we end up doing we always have fun. Anyway, as soon as we heard about the National Literary Trust's Books About Town campaign we knew exactly what we'd be getting up to this summer!
Books About Town is a series of 50 different book inspired benches that have been scattered throughout London on four different trails. The benches will remain in London until the 15th of September so if you haven't managed to see them all yet you still have a little time but you need to be quick if you don't want to miss them. Each of the benches have been designed and painted by an incredible artist and there is an incredibly variety of different designs. After the event the benches will all be auctioned off to the public to raise money for the National Literary Trust. It's such a great cause but I have a feeling the benches will all be way out of my price range!
One of my favourite things about the benches is how they are designed to look like an open book, they are all the same shape but you'll be amazed at how different they all look because of the artist's different designs. Have a look at these pics of the Jungle Book bench to see what I mean about the shape of the benches:
Jungle Book bench - Side View
Jungle Book bench - Front
Jungle Book bench - Back
It took us three trips but Kirsty and I did manage to track down all fifty benches. Kirsty made a fab little video slideshow below that shows all of the benches but I thought I'd share a few of my favourite benches with you here too.
I've been a fan of the Discworld series since I was about 18 so that was probably one of the benches I was most excited to see. It features one of my favourite characters, The Librarian, which I think is pretty appropriate!
Discworld bench featuring The Librarian
Most people already know that I adore dragons so of course I loved this How to Train Your Dragon bench!
How to Train Your Dragon
This bench for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was absolutely stunning, it was so incredibly detailed and the painting of Aslan on the back was fantastic!

Finally, I have to include this picture because I think it is the only one we have with both of us in the photo (I had to stitch 2 pictures together for the Paddington Bear bench above). This is based on Samuel Pepy's Diary and depicts the Great Fire of London in 1666. I actually really love the colouring of this bench and if you look closely in the background you can just about spot the Shard in the distance between us.

You can see all of the other benches in Kirsty's video below:
Did you manage to find any of the book benches over the summer? Which one is your favourite?

Happy Christmas!

Christmas Kisses from Cassie
I just wanted to write a quick post wishing everyone a happy Christmas! I hope you're all having a wonderful day with family and friends, eating too much delicious food, perhaps enjoying a drink or two and hopefully finding some books wrapped up under the tree :o)
You can see she's thinking "Bah humbug" LOL
I have some posts scheduled to go up over the next few days but I'm going to be spending time with family so I won't be online much so will catch up with you all soon.
Santa Kitty
I thought I'd leave you with a few funny videos! Who in their right mind would think of trying to wrap up their cat as a Christmas present? There is no way in a million years that Cassie would let me do this to her - just look at the pictures from when I tried to put her in a Christmas hat and collar & you can see from the evil look on her face that she wants to kill me! Is it wrong that I'm tempted to try it anyway though? LOL
Last but not least it wouldn't be Christmas without a new Simon's Cat video or two!
Happy holidays everyone!!

Apologies for the lack of posts - I'm feeling poorly!
Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still here and I am still blogging but I'm feeling so ill at the moment that I didn't even pick up a book or turn on my laptop for 3 days (thankfully I have managed to do a little reading today though - I was going a little crazy!) I have a rotten virus that has been kicking my arse since new years eve and is showing no signs of leaving yet :o(
Anyway, I have a few guest posts scheduled but apart from that I'm afraid it's going to be a little quiet around here until I'm feeling back on form. I'm really excited to see that you've already started posting reviews for the 2013 British Books Challenge (sign up here if you haven't already!) though and I will be reading your reviews and replying to comments ASAP but having an eye infection in both eyes is making it hard to spend any time looking at my laptop screen. Keep the review links coming though because I'm looking forward to reading them and I'll get my reviews for the 3 books I've read by British authors so far this year posted as soon as I can.
I hope you're all having a better start to 2013 than I have been - I'll kick this virus and get the blog back on track ASAP & I hope you'll bear with me in the meantime!

I'm spending the next couple of days visiting family so things are going to be quite here on the blog for a couple of days but I'll be back very soon with more reviews :o)
Happy Holidays everyone!

Do you want to take a virtual tour of my bookshelves?
I have been promising Kirsty (from The Overflowing Library) a guest post about my book shelves for her Bookcase Showcase feature for months now so it really was about time I got around to writing it. The post went live on Kirsty's blog last weekend but I forgot to post about it here so I thought I'd give you a quick reminder now in case you missed it.
If you'd like to go on a virtual tour of my bookshelves check out my Bookcase Showcase post on The Overflowing Library. You can see first hand how I organise my shelves and just how out of control my to read pile has become!!

London 2012 Olympic Geek Out - The hunt for Wenlock & Mandeville!
OK I know this is mainly a book blog and I don't often talk about non book related topics but I couldn't resist a quick post about the London Olympics. I know, I know the Olympics & Paralympics finished weeks ago but I've been moving house and time has flown away with me! Anyway, I was really disappointed that I didn't manage to get tickets to see any of the events, especially since it was practically on my doorstep, but I think we did ourselves proud. The opening ceremony was amazing, all of the participating athletes were fantastic and the volunteers did a superb job. I enjoyed watching as much of it as possible on the TV even though I couldn't be there in person.
Now this post isn't really about the Olympic events - it's actually about the Discovery Trails around London to go on a treasure hunt for the Olympic Mascots Wenlock and Mandeville. It all started when Kirsty (from The Overflowing Library) and I spotted a couple of Wenlock statues at random while we were in London for an event. We were back in London a couple of days later and found a few more and then someone told us that there were 6 different maps you could follow to find them all. I'm not going to even suggest that Kirsty has geeky tendencies I'll just say it blatantly, she does, but then so do I so of course we had to print of the maps and see how many of them we could find!
I know a few people have asked to see pictures of them all and I thought that some of you might like to see the routes so I've included the trail maps along with slideshows of the statues.
Blue Trail
Distance - 4.4 kilometres / 2.7 miles
16 Wenlock & Mandeville Statues
16 Wenlock & Mandeville Statues
Kirsty and I started off with the Blue Trail which took us on a route from near London Bridge, along past the Globe Theatre, over the Millenium Bridge, past St Paul's Cathedral, along by Monument (where the Great Fire of London started in 1666) and down to the Tower of London. This took us around a part of London that I'd not been to for years, I have vague memories of a trip to the Tower as a child but enjoyed getting to explore the area again as an adult. We also rather enjoyed looking at the hot guys in suits who were walking around the city on their lunch breaks! We managed to track down all 16 Wenlocks and Mandevilles on the trail and it was impressive to see how different they all were.
Green Trail
Distance - 3.7 kilometres / 2.3 miles
11 Wenlock & Mandeville Statues

Next up was the Green Trail around Regent's Park, this was a lovely scenic route and it was a beautiful sunny day so it was quite relaxing strolling around the park. It wasn't quite so easy to follow the route because we weren't always sure which path to take but there were quite a few families also taking part in the search so when in doubt we followed everyone else and we managed to find all 11 statues.
Unfortunately we were too tired to complete any other maps that day and then Kirsty had to head back home to Norfolk so she didn't get to carry on the search. We had managed to find a few random statues from other maps though so she may crop up in a few more pictures. I would like to point out that the search was in no way responsible for Kirsty's broken leg - in fact she did tell me that if she'd stayed a few days longer so we could have gone back to London and continued the hunt then she probably wouldn't have broken it in the first place!
I'm going to show just how geeky I am now by telling you that I couldn't leave the search unfinished. After all that effort to find the ones we had I was determined to get pictures of the remaining statues. In the end I convinced my Dad to spend a day up in London with me so we could complete the remaining 4 maps.
Yellow Trail
Distance - 3.2 kilometres / 2 miles

Dad & I decided to start with the Yellow Trail which took us around Liverpool Street Station, through Spitalfields Market, down Brick Lane and along past Whitechapel through to Aldgate and Leadenhall Market. I didn't know this area at all so it was nice to explore a new part of London.
Red Trail
Distance - 4.8 kilometres / 3 miles

The Red Trail took us across Westminster Bridge and around by the London Eye before walking along the river opposite Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, we walked past Lambeth Palace and over Lambeth bridge before walking along behind the Houses of Parliament to Westminster Abbey. This is an area of London that I've been around quite a few times in the past but I really enjoyed walking along by the river taking pictures. We got some great photos of some of the statues with Big Ben in the background and it just made for a pleasant stroll.
Pink Trail
Distance - 2.6 kilometres / 1.6 miles

The Pink Trail starts in Covent Garden although we actually did the route in the wrong order starting near Embankment Tube Station. Because I usually get the train into Charing Cross I know this area quite well, I've been to Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden loads of times and we walk right past Leicester Square on our way to Foyles whenever we're in London but in all the times I've been in that area I'd never walked through the park by Embankment before. It was really nice to find such a peaceful little corner of London that I'd not visited before and it would make a lovely spot to sit and eat lunch in the summer.
Purple Trail
Distance - 3.4 kilometres / 2.1 miles

I have to admit my feet were killing me before we even started the Purple Trail (in fact I think I'd had blisters on the soles of my feet from near the beginning of the Pink Trail!) but at that point I'd managed to find 69 of the 82 statues and nothing in the world would have made me give up before finding the remaining 13! We did most of this trail at a pace that a snail would be embarrassed to slither along at & I'm honestly not sure how I made it to the end but it was worth it when we found the final Mandeville! This route took us around Piccadilly and right past the giant Waterstone's that is a regular blogger haunt when we're meeting up in London but that was the only part I was familiar with. It took us through Berkeley Square up past Mayfair and Grosvenor Square, along Bond Street and down Regents Street (past Hamleys toy shop) back to Piccadilly Circus.
It was an utterly exhausting day but we had a lot of fun discovering new areas of London and even different ways to get around the city. Unfortunately the Wenlock & Mandeville statues have been removed now (they were sold by auction to raise money for charity) but I would highly recommend doing any of these kind of treasure hunts in the future (I believe there have been hunts in the past for elephants and Faberge eggs but I missed those ones). This was a fun way to feel like we were taking part in the Olympics without having tickets and we saw loads of different families taking part in the searches.
So I think I've proved my membership to the geeky club but I'm proud to say I tracked down and took photos of 82 Wenlock and Mandevilles over the space of two days. If you happened to be in London during the Olympics I'd love to know if you spotted any of them. Did you follow the trails or just find them at random? Or have you done any of the previous hunts? I'd love to hear more about them!

I've FINALLY moved!!
Anyone who has been following my blog for a while will know all about the nightmare housing situation I've had for the last 11 months since a massive sewage leak in the house I rent made it uninhabitable! I've been in various forms of temporary accommodation over the last year but my landlord finally offered to move me into one of the other houses down my road. The insurance company still hasn't signed off on the cost of repairing my old house and it doesn't look like they'll be starting work to fix it any time soon so I jumped at the chance of a permanent move.
You may have noticed that it's been a bit quiet around here over the last couple of weeks - I had been organised and scheduled posts for while I was moving but everything took longer than expected and it left me with very little time to read or go online. To be honest I'm feeling physically and mentally exhausted so even though the move is done (apart from the unpacking which is getting there but still a work in progress!) I can't seem to get my brain into gear for blogging. I have a few posts scheduled over the next couple of weeks but I think I'm going to take this week off from blogging to give myself time to relax and get some reading done. I'll be back soon though so don't worry!
I have Kirsty (from The Overflowing Library) staying for the week which I'm really looking forward to - there will be lots of girlie gossipping, plenty of book talk, hopefully some organising of the books in my new library and a few trips to meet up with some of our favourite bloggers and authors!
In the meantime I thought you might like to see a few pictures of the new house, it's not finished yet but I'm really pleased with how everything is coming together so far.

Front Room:
It wouldn't be my house if I didn't have books in there somewhere but I am also obsessed with dragons so some of my collection have pride of place in this room. I still need to find homes for the rest of my collection but here are a few of my favourites:
That red dragon at the bottom is actually Smaug from the Hobbit!
Kitchen / Dining Room:
The top of this picture shows the world's smallest kitchen - so small that I have to have my oven in the dining room (see the lower half of the picture)
Bedroom:
You can't tell from the picture but all the drawers are currently empty because I haven't got around to unpacking the suitcases full of clothes yet! In case the bed didn't give it away orange is one of my favourite colours.
Bathroom:
I'm going to miss lazing in the bath with a good book but I'm already head over heels in love with the power shower!
Library:
Now this is already my favourite room in the house! I've always wanted a library so I decided to turn the spare bedroom into one & I love it in there. Kirsty is going to give me the benefit of her library experience and help me reorganise the shelves this week. I'll be taking LOTS of pictures when it's done so this is just a sneak peek!
Of course you can't have a library without a librarian and after a lot of interviews Big Ted got the job. Just to give you an idea of how big he is I thought I'd include a picture with me in it too. I won Big Ted at Butlins when I was 18 and although he is huge and it can be hard to find a place for I can't bring myself to part with him.
So, that's a quick tour of the new house, like I said it's a work in progress and I'm still trying to find homes for everything but it is so nice to be living somewhere permanent again. It's just a relief to not have to go back to the house of sewage.
I hope you'll bare with me over the next couple of weeks while things are a little on the slow side - I'll be back to normal posting schedules soon & am looking forward to spending some time catching up on all the blog posts that I've missed and replying to all your comments!

Cover Reveal: Losing Lila - Sarah Alderson
Yesterday I noticed that Sarah Alderson had posted the cover for Losing Lila on her blog (read her post here). I absolutely loved Hunting Lila when I read it last year (read my review here) so it feels like I've been waiting forever for the sequel - August the 2nd can't come soon enough! Anyway here is the cover:
What do you think of it? I think the strap line "It's time to stop running and start fighting" is awesome. I also love how the cover has so much movement to it, you can practically see Lila running across the page.
Now in case you didn't spot it I just want to show you a quick close up:
Yes, that's my quote on the front cover!!! I've never had a cover quote before so let's just say there was a lot of happy squealing in my house when I spotted it! Since Hunting Lila was one of my favourite books last year it was a pretty appropriate review to have quoted.
Now I'll just have to wait impatiently to get my hands on a nice shiny copy!

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012!
Happy New Year everyone! I hope that 2012 brings you everything you could possibly wish for!
I can't believe that 2011 is over already, it's really flown by! Although the last few months have been pretty stressful I have to say that 2011 has been a pretty good year all round so lets hope that 2012 just gets even better. I don't usually talk about personal things on my blog (oh I do on twitter so most of you probably know all about my diet and are probably sick of hearing about it!) but I've never put anything about it here on the blog. I'm proud of what I've achieved though so I thought it was about time I shared a couple of pictures.
If you'd told me a year ago how many things would change this year I would have laughed at you. Never in a million years would I have believed that I'd be able to lose 6 stone 8 lbs (or 92 lbs or 41.73 kgs depending on what measurements you prefer to go by!). I'd also never have believed that I would have given up smoking a month ago (I might have said I'd love to but it's not so easy to break a 15 year habit!).
Quite a difference isn't it! It's quite funny the number of people who walk straight past me without recognising me now, even my Dad (who I see several times a week) completely blanked me a few weeks ago because he didn't realise it was me. I guess I'll have to let him off though since I don't recognise myself half the time :o) So 2011 has been a year of pretty big changes & I can't wait to see what 2012 will bring!
I don't normally set myself new years resolutions, every time I do I tend to fail them miserably but this year I'm going to give myself a couple of goals
- To lose that extra weight that I've gained over Christmas & get back to target, then the hard part is going to be staying there!
- To stay a non smoker, I will NOT start that nasty habit again!
- Start running - increasing my exercise is going to give me the best chance of staying at my goal weight so even though I don't think I'll ever be a long distance runner I would like to be able to run a few miles. I'm determined that I'll actually run the Race for Life this summer rather than walk it like I did last year, it's only 5k so I don't think that's an impossible goal. I've already signed up for a beginners running group that starts at the end of January to help me achieve it.
This has ended up being my personal welcome to the new year but I'll be back later today with a blog related look back at 2011 and a giveaway since today is actually my second blogoversary and I'm in the mood to celebrate!
