Review:
He's a star on the rugby field but Jacob Esera's main focus has always been his family, especially his six-year-old daughter Esme. Jake has been a single father since his childhood sweetheart Callie died not long after Esme was born and it hasn't been easy but with the help of his family he's made it work and become a wonderful father. He's been so focused on Esme that he's forgotten how to unwind and have fun as an adult so when Juliet comes barrelling back into his life she's like a breath of fresh air.

Unlike Jake, Juliet never had the support of her family, in fact the only person she was ever able to rely on was Callie who was her best friend throughout school. Jake and Juliet were like chalk and cheese and never really got along but their love for Callie bonded them until bad girl Juliet was sent to Samoa to live with family. It's been years since they saw each other last and sparks start to fly the moment they meet again but they're both wary about getting into a relationship. Jake is scared to love again because he can't bear the thought of losing someone else while Juliet has been hurt before when her ex betrayed her and is totally off men in general but sports stars in particular. Destiny has a way of throwing them back together though and in the long run neither of them are able to resist temptation.

I absolutely love all of the Bishop-Esera brothers, Gabriel has always been my favourite (and we get to see the T-Rex make an honest woman of his mouse in this book as the story starts with their wedding!) but Jake came very close to topping him. In general I tend to prefer my romances child free but there was something so adorable about Esme that I enjoyed her role in the story. The main thing that kept me hooked was the chemistry between Juliet and Jake though. Their relationship is like throwing a lit match on a can of oil, they're argumentative and often clash but when they're on the same page it's absolutely explosive.

The two of them were seriously hot but there were also some really sweet emotional moments between them. I loved that Callie felt like a part of their story too, she was such an important person in both of their lives and it kind of felt like she was somehow responsible for bringing them together. We get to spend time with the whole clan and I don't think I'll ever get enough of this family. I'm already looking forward to Danny's book and hope we'll get stories for some of the other rugby team members after that. Nalini Singh can do no wrong in my eyes, I'm a paranormal girl at heart so I'll always love the Guild Hunter and Psy-Changeling series but her contemporaries always hit the spot too and leave me with a happy buzz.

Review:
Nayna has always felt like she has to be the perfect daughter to make up for the disappointment her parents felt when her older sister became a rebel. She's always done what was expected of her and has never wanted to hurt them by pushing her boundaries which is why she has agreed to an arranged marriage. But as she meets one disastrous match after another she starts to question whether she really wants to let herself be trapped in a life of someone else's choosing and her bet friend talks her into attending a party for a night of fun and dancing. The attraction she feels for Raj is instant but their first meeting goes horribly wrong so she is completely shocked when she realises that he's the next match her parents have found for her.

Raj was abandoned as a child and although he was adopted into a loving and supportive family he continues to crave love and security. He believes in tradition and is looking for a woman who will be the centre of his world, someone who will be a loving wife and mother and who would never abandon him. From the minute he meets Nayna he can't stop thinking about her but knowing how much she hates the idea of being forced into marriage he has to choose between his dream and allowing her the freedom to make her own choices.

Nayna and Raj both made an appearance in Cherish Hard as the best friends of Isa and Sailor so I was already excited about this story but it was even better than I had hoped for. They're both such brilliant characters, Nayna is sweet and funny, a little shy but also becoming increasingly brave as she finds her confidence. She loves her family and wants to do right by them but she also desperately wants to get a taste of freedom before she settles down and marries. Raj is a perfect hero, he claims he doesn't believe in romance but he's surprisingly good at the small romantic gestures that every woman longs for. He cares enough about Nayna to want to help her spread her wings and he stands up for her with both her family and his own when it comes to letting her have the chance to pursue her dreams.

The couple have fantastic rapport from the very beginning, they spark off each other and argue but the chemistry is there from the get go and you just know things are going to be explosive when they finally give into temptation. I loved the playful banter between them but also how they were always there for each other when anything went wrong. There is very little drama between them because they talk through their issues and are both willing to make compromises which is something I always appreciate in my romances. I also really loved both of their families, yes they have some issues but they all had a deep bond and clearly loved each other. It was really fun to see the families interact with each other and slowly blend into one big loving, supportive group around our couple.

We all know that Nalini Singh is a queen of paranormal romance but she's also just as good at writing fantastic contemporary romance with heroes you're guaranteed to fall for. T-Rex from Rock Hard has long been my favourite of her contemporary heroes but I think Raj may just have taken first place! Rebel Hard was absolutely perfect, great characters, swoon worthy romance, wonderful family dynamics and some huge and OTT Indian weddings! I'm already excited for the next book in this series.

Review:
I love the whole Rock Kiss series but Rock Hard was definitely my favourite so I was thrilled when I found out that Nalini Singh was writing a spin off series about the rest of the Bishop/Esera brothers. They're such a tight-knit family so I was really looking forward to getting to know everyone better. If you've read Rock Hard then you'll have already met Sailor and Isa because Cherish Hard is actually set before Gabriel and Charlie's book but it was really fun to go back and see how they met and became a couple. It was also interesting to see a different side to Gabriel from back when he was still single and to get to know the other brothers a little better too.

Isa comes from a wealthy and very driven family and her mother is determined to see Isa follow in her footsteps and take over the family business. All Isa really wants is a peaceful life though, she'd much rather focus on her career as a teacher but her mother uses her younger siblings to emotionally manipulate her into doing what she wants her to. Sailor comes from a very different, much more supportive family, one who supports him and has helped him follow his dreams to become a landscape gardener. He's been so busy focusing on his business that he doesn't have time for romance but that all changes when he meets Isa and he's determined to prove to her how great they would be together.

This was such an enjoyable story, the romance between Isa and Sailor was really sweet and I liked that there wasn't much drama between them as a couple, any stresses on their relationship come from outside factors but they work together to deal with their issues and sort things out like sensible adults. I felt so sorry for Isa, her mother was such a nasty piece of work but luckily she had a great bond with her siblings. She was really like a replacement mother for them and I loved the way Sailor stepped up beside her to help them when they were in trouble. I also enjoyed seeing the Bishop/Esera clan welcome Isa and her family into the fold. I can't decide which brother's story I'm more excited about but I have a feeling I'm going to love them all so I guess it doesn't really matter!

Nalini Singh has been an auto-buy author for me ever since I got hooked on her Guild Hunter and Psy-Changeling series so I'm happy that her contemporary romances are just as brilliant as her paranormal ones.

Review:
When Sarah met Abe she thought she had been swept of her feet by Prince Charming, all she ever wanted was to be part of a family, to have someone to love and who loved her in return. She never felt worthy of his attention and she never felt that he loved her as much as she loved him but she was sure that her love would be enough to see them through anything. That all changed after her miscarriage when Abe wasn't there for her when she needed him desperately, in fact he pushed her away in his grief and said some terrible hurtful things that left her heart completely shattered. Since then Sarah has built up a successful business but she went from a disastrous relationship with Abe to an even worse one with someone else and now she's in trouble.

It was Abe's friends who helped her when she's at her lowest point and now her growing friendship Molly and the other band member's girlfriends put her back in contact with Abe again too. Abe has spent years struggling with grief since the death of his sister and he know he lost the best thing that ever happened to him when he pushed Sarah away in a drug and drink fueled rage. He desperately wants to make amends and prove that he can be the man she always wanted, the man she deserves, but Sarah has had her heart broken already and it's going to take a lot for her to open back up to him again.

There were times when Rock Wedding wasn't an easy read, Sarah and Abe have both been through a lot of heartbreak and they're both still grieving for people they've loved and lost but it just shows how amazing Nalini Singh's writing is that you're right there with them both sharing their pain. I love a good second chance romance but only when it's done right and this book hit the spot perfectly, the couple both made mistakes in their relationship, although Abe's drug use was certainly the biggest cause of their problems, but they've come through the other side stronger than ever. I was a little worried that it would be hard to believe Abe has overcome his addictions but we've seen him sober for a long time now and the way he was able to open up to Sarah about things that he'd always bottled up in the past proves how much he has changed.

If there was ever a couple that deserved to find happiness it has to be these two and it was so beautiful seeing them finally get a chance to put things behind them and move on with their lives. I also loved seeing how all the other couples are doing, there are some really sweet and funny moments between the whole gang that left me with a huge smile on my face. This series has been such a fantastic one and I'm sure it'll be one I reread in the future but in the meantime I'm excited to get to know the rest of Gabe's brothers when Nalini starts publishing the spin off series!

Review:
I love the Rock Kiss series but I have to admit I was a little nervous going into Rock Redemption. I have a big hot button for cheating and it's not something I can usually forgive in romance stories. Now I know Noah didn't technically cheat on Kit because they weren't actually dating but he definitely broke her heart when she caught him with another woman and the fact that he did it on purpose because they were getting too close made it really difficult for me to like his character in the beginning. I trust Nalini Singh though and decided to push through my fears and I'm glad I did because Noah is actually a really sweet guy when you get past his deep seated issues.

Noah is a mess and he doesn't claim to be anything else, he survived something horrific as a child and it's left him damaged and broken. He uses sex as a way to push aside his memories but it's all quite mechanical and not something he really enjoys. Kit was one of his closest friends and he knew that she was falling in love with him but he didn't want to taint their relationship with sex so he deliberately set out to push her away and he destroyed their friendship in the process. I have to say I had a huge amount of respect for Kit because even though she loved him she walked away when he hurt her. She wasn't about to put up with his crap and knew that she deserved to be treated better. When she eventually lets him back into her life she does it slowly and carefully, she's wary of getting hurt again and I could completely understand where she was coming from. It's obvious the two of them have a brilliant connection but Noah was too messed up to be what she needed, especially in the beginning, and I liked the fact that the author doesn't immediately fix Noah just because he's found love.

Someone who is in such a bad place isn't going to come out of it easily and Rock Redemption isn't quite as light hearted and romantic as the earlier stories have been. It's gritty and real and it takes a long time for Kit and Noah to rebuild the broken trust and decide they have a shot at a future together so you should go into this expecting a slow burn romance built on a strong foundation of friendship. Kit is strong enough to stand up to Noah and she point blank tells him that no matter how much she loves him and no matter how horrible his past was it doesn't give him the right to use her as an emotional punching bag. I could have cheered at that point and I definitely think it was a strong and important message to send out to readers. Kit was more than willing to be there for Noah and help him through his issues but she wasn't prepared to be treated badly while she was doing it.

Noah has a lot of issues but if you look beneath the surface he's a great guy, he cares deeply about his friends and would do anything to help them and it's obvious that he's crazy about Kit. By the end of the book I was completely convinced that Noah had been able to turn his life around, I'm sure he'll still mess up but it won't be by cheating on Kit and I can't imagine him doing anything to hurt her again. Rock Redemption is a slow burner but that made it all that much sweeter when Noah and Kit finally reach a good place in their relationship. We also get the chance to catch up with the previous couples and we get some very interesting glimpses into the final band member Abe's head, I can't wait to read his book!

Review:
It wasn't easy for Charlie to put her life back together after escaping from an abusive relationship but she has worked hard to get where she is now and although she is still painfully shy she is good at her job and is independent. When Gabriel is brought in to completely overhaul the company she works for Charlie is terrified she's about to be fired but instead she finds herself promoted and working directly for Gabriel as his personal assistant. Gabriel is a terrifying T-Rex of a man, he demands a great deal from his staff and puts Charlie under a huge amount of pressure but at the same time she feels incredibly safe around him. No matter how scary she finds him she knows without a doubt that he would never hurt her and she finds herself gaining confidence in herself with him at her side. Gabriel wants Charlie from the moment he sets eyes on her and it doesn't take him long to realise just how special she is. He can see she's been hurt in the past though and he is more than willing to take his time stalking his prey.

This series really does get better and better with every single book, I've been looking forward to Charlie mouse and T-Rex's story for such a long time now and it was totally worth the wait. I've always been a huge fan of Nalini Singh for her paranormal romances but with this series she's proving that she's just as good at writing contemporary and this book was utterly perfect. I don't think I would change a single thing about it and just thinking about how much I enjoyed reading it has me wanting to pick it back up and devour it for a second time.

We all know that alpha heroes have become a huge trend in contemporary romances recently and I love strong, dominant heroes as much as the next girl but I'm often disappointed because some authors seem to think that alpha male is equivalent to domineering, abusive arse. If you want to meet a REAL alpha let me introduce you to Gabriel. Yes the man is grumpy and domineering at work, he knows what he wants and he expects his staff to do it immediately - he isn't known as the T-Rex for nothing - but he isn't unreasonable. He expects hard work from everyone else because he works hard himself, he puts in longer hours than anyone and wouldn't ask you to do something that he wasn't willing to do too. Outside the office Gabriel is the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet, he is sweet, kind, funny and thoughtful. He has a take charge attitude but he also knows when to take a step back and hand the reigns over to someone else.

I have a lot of respect for the way Gabriel treated Charlie, he set his sights on her very quickly but he could see that she was skittish and nervous and he respected her need for space and to take things slowly. He takes time to get to know her, to build trust between them and to just show her what a great guy he is before he even hints at wanting anything more than a business relationship between them. When he finally makes his move he knows just how far to push her so that things start to move forwards but he backs off immediately the second she gets nervous.

I absolutely loved seeing Charlie's confidence in herself increase, even before they're in a relationship Gabriel has a way of building her up and showing her just how special she is. She starts the story very mousy and almost afraid of her own shadow, something that isn't too surprising when you find out about her history, but by the end of the book she can really fight her own corner. I thought Nalini Singh handled her past sensitively and Charlie's progression was perfect, she wasn't cured of her fears overnight - nobody who had survived what she did could be - but she makes steady progress because she has the support of a guy who is willing to listen to her needs. Gabriel's instincts make him want to protect Charlie but he understands how important her independence is to her and he helps her live life on her own terms.

The whole Rock Kiss series has been brilliant but Rock Hard takes things up to a whole new level and Charlie and Gabriel are definitely one of my favourite Nalini Singh couples. I know I'll be reading this story again and again while I wait for the next book in the series to release and I'm really hoping that we're going to get stories about Gabriel's brothers that will allow us to catch up with these two too. I can't recommend Nalini Singh's books highly enough, she never lets me down and always, always makes me fall head over heels for her characters.

Review:
Rock Courtship is the second story in Nalini Singh's Rock Kiss series and features Schoolboy Choir's drummer David and their publicist Thea. If you've read Rock Addiction then you'll be familiar with both of these characters and you'll have already seen how head over heels David is for Thea. I had high hopes for this story because I was already a big fan of David and I'm happy to say he didn't disappoint me.

David is such a sweet guy, he hasn't let the band's success go to his head and is a genuinely nice person to spend time with. He's earned the reputation as the Gentleman of Rock in the press and he lives up to it in every way. David has been crazy about Thea ever since he first met her but the time was never right for him to make a move, first she was in a relationship, then she was recovering from a broken heart and now she is very clear about her rule of never mixing business with pleasure and since she's the band's publicist she wouldn't dream of dating David. But David has waited long enough, he knows she is the one for him and no other woman will do, all he has to do is convince Thea to give him a shot.

Taking the advice of Thea's sister Molly David sends Thea a memo explicitly outlining his case for them starting a relationship. Thea feels obliged to respond in kind and soon they are sending each other the most wonderful flirty emails as David slowly starts to win Thea around. These two really are perfect for each other and I loved seeing them grow closer as Thea starts to let down her barriers. She has good reasons for finding it hard to trust but David has been a friend for a long time and deep down she knows he would never betray her like her ex did. The two of them have fabulous chemistry (I think David may possibly be even hotter than Fox!) but more than that they also have respect for each other and a solid, caring foundation to their relationship.

I think my only complaint about Rock Courtship was that I wanted it to be longer, I could have happily devoured a full length novel about these two rather than a novella! That isn't to say the story isn't satisfying, I just loved them so much that I wanted to spend more time with them. David writes the most wonderful emails - who knew that memos could be sexy? - and I wanted to see more of them. This is definitely turning into one of my favourite NA series, super hot rock stars, strong independent heroines and fantastic hot sex - what's not to love?

It's no secret that Nalini Singh is one of my favourite paranormal romance authors, I absolutely adore her Guild Hunter series and I'm currently working my way through her Psy-Changeling books which I already love just as much. So when I found out she was writing a new adult rock star romance I immediately wanted to read Rock Addiction and I couldn't wait to see what the queen of paranormal could do with a contemporary romance (this isn't her first contemp story, but it is the first one I've read). I went into this book with incredibly high expectations but for once I wasn't worried because I knew this author wouldn't let me down. She consistently writes fabulous stories with characters who I fall in love with every single time and that's exactly what happened here.

Fox is the lead singer of the rock band Schoolboy Choir, he has it all - money, fame, a bad boy image complete with tattoos, more sex appeal than any one man should possess and a voice made for seducing women. He has his sights set on Molly, a sweet and innocent librarian who has a deep seated fear of fame and the resulting paparazzi harassment thanks to her time spent in the spotlight as a teenager after a family scandal. The last thing Molly needs is to start a relationship with one of the most famous faces in rock but that doesn't mean she isn't willing to have a little fun - as long as it's kept private and is a short term thing. Fox is the one who is determined to push her for more, he knows something special when he sees it and he has no intention of letting Molly go.

Rock Addiction is an incredibly hot read, one that is packed with scorching hot sex scenes that will leave you in need of a cold shower. I already knew how good Nalini Singh is at writing chemistry between her main characters but I really think she has excelled herself in this instance and I loved everything about Fox and Molly's relationship. What I loved most was the way the author turns so many different romance tropes upside down, there were a few times when I almost started to worry about the direction things were going to take - I feared we might end up with another relationship crisis because the characters weren't sensible enough to talk things through like adults - but every time I got nervous something would happen that completely surprised me and made me fall in love with the characters even more.

Both Fox and Molly are flawed in different ways but they understand themselves well enough to see why they react in certain ways and they also make allowances for each other based on their pasts. I loved seeing them put each other first and working together to find solutions for their problems - it made it very easy for me to believe that they could make things work as a couple. The one thing I really didn't like was a certain part about Molly's trust fund, I just didn't agree with the way things were dealt with and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Apart from that I think their romance was done incredibly well and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them fall in love.

As if fantastic main characters weren't enough we also have a selection of brilliant side characters who I absolutely can't wait to spend more time with. I really hope we get a book for each of the remaining band members, David, Noah and Abe, because I have high expectations for all three of them. I also loved what we saw of Molly's best friend Charlie and desperately want to learn more about her and the boss she calls T-Rex. Rock Addiction has left me excited to continue the series and it has everything I look for in a rock star romance so I can't recommend it highly enough. Nalini Singh was already one of my auto-buy authors for paranormal romance but now I'm going to have to go and read through her contemporary romance backlog!
