Review:
Kitten has been a side character in both the Texas Sirens and Nights in Bliss series for quite a while now so I've been looking forward to her story for what feels like forever. We already knew that she'd been abducted from college as an innocent and pretty naive teenager and treated appallingly by the man who held her prisoner, we've seen her trying to deal with the consequences of that with the help of Julian, Leo and other members of the club for a couple of years now and slowly starting to regain her confidence.

All Kitten has ever really wanted is a family to call her own but it's only after years of therapy that Julian and the others believe she is finally ready for a proper relationship. She recently signed a six month D/s contract with Cole and although she is starting to develop feelings for him there is still something missing from their relationship because he's afraid to take the next step with her in case it brings back memories of the trauma she experienced. Kitten is longing for something more but she's having trouble asking for it while Cole is trapped in a vicious cycle of wanting to protect Kitten but ending up smothering her by mistake. It isn't until Mason walks into their lives that things start to change. Cole and Mason have an incredibly complicated history but Mason is able to understand exactly what both Cole and Kitten need and he helps them learn to communicate.

This was probably the most emotional story in either of these series, Kitten has been through so much but she's still such a joyous character. She's seen the worst life has to offer and now she's determined to always find the positives no matter what situation she's in, she looks for the beauty in life and her personality is infectious to the people around her. Mason is also fantastic, his history with Cole was really difficult and I felt so sorry for the way he had been treated so it was very easy to root for him as a character. Cole had made some really stupid decisions in the past, mainly down to his own guilt I think, which is the reason I was able to forgive his actions reasonably quickly. I'm glad he was able to prove to Mason that he'd changed and show both Mason and Kitten what a wonderful life they could have together.

These series have an incredibly high heat level but the sex always compliments the romance and never talks away from it. The relationships are so well developed that I never have a problem believing that the triads can make it work long term once they work through whatever issues are facing them becoming a thruple in the first place. My only minor complaint is that it was really easy to figure out who was messing with Cole's business but since I'm far more interested in the romance and relationship that is really not worth worrying about. I'm sad that we seem to have come to the end of both of these series now, well all of the original stories have now been rereleased anyway, but I really hope Lexi Blake decides to write more books around these characters and set in Bliss. I know some of them pop up in the Masters & Mercenaries books from time to time but I'm not ready to say goodbye completely.

Review:
Most of the books in the Nights in Bliss and Texas Sirens series work completely standalone so while you'll appreciate them more if you're familiar with the side characters you don't need to have read previous books to enjoy then. Sirens in Bliss is different because this really is an homage to all the books that have come before and it ties the two series together as Wolf, Leo and Shelley return to their hometown Bliss to get married and bring all their friends from Texas home with them. There's always been some crossover between the two series but here we get to see nearly all of our favourite characters from both together for the first time and it leads to all sorts of hilarious conversations.

While this book is ostensibly about Wolf, Leo, Shelley and their upcoming wedding it's also a chance to check in with previous couples & thruples at important points in their lives. Stefan is panicking at the impending birth of his first child and absolutely terrified that something terrible will happen to Jen. Rafe is struggling to settle in Bliss and has been offered the opportunity of a new job but it would mean convincing Cam and Laura to move to Miami with him. Then you have Aidan, Lexi and Lucas who are pulling away from each other at a time they need each other the most. Obviously we see lots of other characters in the background too but these are the main focuses of the story.

What I loved most is that we're getting to see Wolf, Leo and Shelley take the next big step in their relationship but at the same time we're reminded that a wedding isn't an automatic happily ever after. All relationships will be tested at some point, people all bring their own baggage to the table and everyone has to work hard at keeping their love alive. The important thing isn't to have a perfect life, it's being willing to put the work in to make the relationship a success.

Sirens in Bliss has all the humour of the previous books as well as all the heart. It's all about the importance of families, yes the one you're born to but sometimes even more importantly the one you choose for yourself. Friendship plays a huge role in this series and I love how each of the characters supports everyone else.

Review:
Ex Navy SEALs Chase and Ben are identical twins with such a close bond that they can literally feel each other's feelings and can pretty much read each other's minds. Now they're both working as private investigators and for their latest job they've been hired by Julian Lodge to investigate a murder at one of the resorts he owns. The prime suspect is a massage therapist who was the last person seen with the victim but Julian has very good reasons to believe in her innocence and he's tasked Chase and Ben with not only finding the real murderer but also with keeping her safe.

Natalie's parents have always been in a D/s relationship so she grew up in the lifestyle and she used to take great pleasure in submitting. She always expected to one day find her own permanent Dom and settle down but her life was almost destroyed when she was kidnapped by a sadist who tortured and abused her. She managed to escape her prison but mentally she's never recovered from the experience and it's turned something she used to take comfort in into something that she's now terrified of. When one of her clients is murdered it takes her straight back into that awful place but as events spiral out of her control she has to find the courage to face her darkest fears.

I think Siren Unleashed was probably the darkest book in the series so far, it touches on some really difficult subjects like kidnap, abuse, people trafficking, and even self-harm as Natalie struggles to cope with her past experiences. You might think that would take away from this being a romance but I thought Lexi Blake did a brilliant job of getting the balance right. These serious topics were handled sensitively and I really appreciated the emphasis on abuse being totally different from BDSM, the major keyword in any BDSM relationship is CONSENSUAL so kidnap does not come anywhere close to falling into that bracket.

Although this story did have it's darker moments it's mainly focused on facing your fears and from Natalie's point of view it's about reclaiming your life back. Chase and Ben both had their own issues that complicate things at times but I absolutely loved the bond between them, the way they were always there for each other and that even when they disagreed with each other they were willing to work together to get what they wanted. These two probably come very close to being my favourite guys in the series and trust me that's really saying something because there have been so many characters I've fallen head over heels for! I also really liked Natalie, she had so much inner strength and I enjoyed seeing her overcome her fears and take what she wanted for once. I've said many times before that I'm totally hooked on these rereleases of Lexi's Texas Sirens and Nights in Bliss series, previously published under the pen name Sophie Oak, and that definitely continues to be the case. I can't wait for more books in this world!

Review:
Shelley spent her whole life looking after the people she loves, she was blackmailed into marriage to protect her mother, she did everything she could to help her brother through his drug and alcohol dependence and she walked away from the man she loved to keep him safe from her dangerous and abusive husband. Now that her husband is dead she is finally ready to move on with her life and when Leo makes it clear he's not willing to give her a second chance she realises that she's going to have to let him go and find a future with someone else.

Wolf is Leo's brother but when he agrees to train Shelley has his new sub he had no idea that she had previously been involved with his brother. By the time he finds out about Shelley and Leo's history it's too late and he's already started falling in love with her himself. But Wolf was raised in Bliss so he doesn't see anything wrong with sharing Shelley with Leo, in fact he has spent years wishing for a closer relationship with his brother and feeling hurt that Leo keeps him at arm's length, so he decides to do whatever it takes to bring the three of them together.

Leo has loved Shelley for years but was heartbroken when she rejected him, instead choosing to stay with a husband that emotionally abused her. The attraction he feels towards her is still there but he's scared of letting her get close in case she hurts him again so instead he remains determined to keep his distance. That suddenly seems a lot harder when he sees Shelley start to fall in love with someone else though and when Wolf asks him to help fulfil her wildest fantasies he finds it very difficult to say no.

Leo and Wolf have been regular recurring characters throughout the Texas Sirens and Nights in Bliss series so I can't tell you how excited I was to finally get my hands on their story. I already really liked Shelley (we got to see quite a bit of her in her brother Trev's book Siren in Waiting) and if anyone deserves to find happiness after everything they've been through it has to be her. I really enjoyed seeing how these three finally ended up coming together. It's funny because Leo is a psychologist who is excellent at diagnosing others and helping them find love but when it comes to his own relationship he is a stubborn disaster. I enjoyed seeing Julian pulling strings to try and bring them all together and really liked how open Wolf was about his desires and wish to create a family for the three of them.

As with all the books in this series there was plenty of heat and this triad had fabulous chemistry as well as a much deeper connection. There was also a sense of danger as both Shelley and Leo's past starts to catch up with them and they find themselves under attack. We get to see a lot of familiar faces as most of the story is set at The Club run by Julian Lodge and I just genuinely enjoy spending time in this world with all of these characters.

Review:
I have been loving Lexi Blake's rereleases of her Sophie Oak books this year, I've become totally hooked on her fab erotic romances and Siren in Waiting was just as good as I hoped it would be. Reading the blurb I hadn't caught on that Bo is Aidan's (from Siren Beloved) brother so that was a nice surprise and it meant we got the chance to catch up with Aidan, Lucas and Lexi too which was a bonus.

Bethany (known as Mouse) has been in love with her best friend Bo for as long as she can remember but she's tired of waiting for him to notice her and is finally ready to move on with her life. Bo will always be important to her but it's time to put herself first for once and she's planning to do that by buying the house of her dreams and restoring it to its former glory. Trev was a professional football player but the pressure was too much for him and left him spiralling into drug and alcohol addiction. Now he's been clean and sober for nearly 2 years and he's returned home to make amends to his sister while working on a local ranch. Bo has spent his whole life being left behind by the people he cares about, by the brother he adored and then by Trev, the friend who he looked up to. Beth has been his only constant but he's scared to act on his feelings for her in case he ends up losing her too. But when Trev returns and makes a move on Beth Bo realises that if he doesn't take action soon he could lose his chance forever.

I have to admit I wasn't sure I'd like Trev, I'm very wary of addicts and was worried about the kind of man he'd be but he was actually a total sweetheart and I loved him from the beginning. Yes he has his demons but he's worked hard to overcome them and what I liked most was the fact that he knows his battle is an ongoing one, he hasn't been magically cured but he is determined to fight his addictions every day for the rest of his life. I loved the way he treated Beth from the very beginning, she was such a sweet girl but due to her shyness and not wanting to cause trouble she tended to let people walk all over her. Trev stood up from her from the moment they first met but he didn't just protect her and keep her in a bubble, instead he helped to build her confidence so that she realised what an amazing woman she was and learnt to stand up for herself.

It actually ended up being Bo that I struggled with at first, he could be quite dismissive towards Beth and although I don't think he meant to hurt her he was definitely upsetting her regularly with his behaviour. It took a while for me to warm up to him but you soon start to realise that he's actually a nice guy but one who is so focused on worrying about what people will think of him that he makes stupid mistakes. Once he started to understand how his actions affected Beth and admitted to himself how much she really meant to him he worked hard to make amends and prove his feelings to her. Bo and Trev had been good friends before but Trev's actions when he was in his downwards spiral had put a huge wedge between them and it took time for Trev to earn back Bo's trust. There wasn't any romance between the two of them, they were more like brothers, but they both understood how much they each meant to Beth and were willing to share their lives to make her happy. Their bond was more than normal friendship though and they both got the extra support they needed from having each other in their lives, Trev had backup and an extra crutch to lean on when he was worrying about his addictions while Bo found a friend who would always be there for them and they worked really well as a triad because of that.

These books are full of sweet romance, scorching hot sex and come with just a little action and danger to add an extra edge to them. The whole series has been brilliant so far and I'm already looking forward to the next book!

Review:
After a night of passion shocked him to his core Aidan walked away from his fiancee Lexi and their best friend Lucas, he just couldn't wrap his head around his attraction to two people and was worried about what his conservative family and town would think of such an unconventional relationship. That was years ago though and after a devastating attack in Iraq left him badly wounded he's come to realise how short life can be - too short to walk away from the people he loves the most. Now Aidan is back and willing to do whatever it takes to convince Lexi and Lucas that this time he's serious. Lexi has been struggling since Aidan left, Lucas has tried to help her keep it together but they're both floundering. Aidan could be the key to getting their lives back on track but that's only if he manages to earn their trust again and with a stalker hot on Lexi's tail time is running out for a happily ever after.

If you've read the previous books in this series you'll already be familiar with some of the characters in this one - Lexi is Abby's daughter and Lucas is Jack's younger brother - so I was already looking forward to seeing them find happiness. Aidan has been mentioned before but we only know him as the ex-fiance who broke Abby's heart when he ended their engagement so I was really curious to meet the man both Lexi and Lucas were in love with. I have to admit I wasn't a fan of the way Aidan chose to walk back into their lives, it felt a little manipulative and I was really surprised that Julian, and particularly Jack, went along with it. I did feel Lexi and Lucas' reactions to that were completely understandable though so I was glad that it kind of backfired on him!

Lucas is a more forgiving character and he was willing to listen to Aidan's side of the story, I think given his own background that made a lot of sense, he's already been given second chances so knows what it's like to mess up. Lexi went through a lot after Aidan walked away so she's much more wary of getting hurt again, she only really agrees to speak to Aidan for Lucas' sake but she can't deny that she still has feelings for him. The three of them worked really well together and I enjoyed seeing them find their way back to each other after all this time apart, they all had their own issues that they brought to the relationship but they were all really supportive of each other and willing to listen to each other which is important.

There's no denying that Lexi Blake writes fantastic romances with scorching hot chemistry and Lexi, Lucas and Aidan were no exception to that. This series really amps up the heat levels but it also has some really sweet and fun moments so I loved getting the chance to catch up with previous characters and their growing families. I'm not sure which characters are up next but I really hope we get to see more of both Aidan's brother Bo and Master Leo, the rest of this series is definitely on my wish list though and I can't wait for the next book!

Review:
After meeting Julian at The Club in the previous book I was really curious to find out more about him. I wasn't convinced I'd be a huge fan of his because he came across as so harsh with his "Slaves" and he was quite cold towards them but I was curious to see who would be able to capture his heart. I really liked both Dani and Finn, they've been best friends since they were at school together and were both always treated as outsiders by the rest of the town. Dani has been in love with Finn for as long as she can remember but since he's gay she knows they'll never have more than friendship. What she doesn't realise is that Finn is actually bi and has been secretly in love with her for their entire relationship, he just doesn't think he could be happy with just one woman and doesn't think it's fair to start something with her when he needs more.

Julian is the catalyst that brings the two of them together, he's more than dominant enough to handle two subs and he knows exactly what they need to make a relationship work. I did like getting to see more of Julian, learning about his past makes it easier to understand why he acts the way he does and we do see him breaking a lot of his own rules when it comes to Dani and Finn so from that you can tell he really does care even if he's not willing to admit it. I did feel like it took him a little too long to properly show his true feelings towards them both though, I wanted him to warm up a little faster than he did but he keeps himself at a distance until very near the end of the book. It was good to see Dani and Finn fighting for what they wanted and I'm glad Julian came through for them in the end.

I still don't like Willow Fork as much as Bliss, in general a lot of the town are incredibly judgemental and they still all look down on Jack, Sam and Abby's relationship so immediately Julian is tainted in their eyes by his association with them. They've also never accepted Finn because he was gay and even Dani, who has never done anything but bend over backwards to look after her ungrateful younger sister since the death of their mother, was looked down on because their mother was unmarried. Bliss has more fun and quirky characters and is more of an anything goes type place so the stories set there feel lighter and more humorous. I'm enjoying the suspense side of the Willow Fork books though and Julian's life is turned upside-down by the reappearance of a not so friendly face from his past.

I have been eating up these rereleases of Lexi Blake's old books and I can't seem to get enough of them. Next up in this series is, Siren Beloved, which stars Lexi (Abby's daughter), Logan (Jack's brother) and Aidan, the ex we haven't met yet but have heard about in previous books. I have very high hopes for their story and can't wait to get hold of a copy!

Review:
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Small Town Siren, but as I mentioned in my review I did feel the relationship between Abby, Jack and Sam felt a bit rushed so I was really happy to see that Siren in the City continues their story. This review will contain spoilers for the first book so if you're new to the series you should look away now.

About six months on from events at the end of the first book Jack is almost physically recovered from being shot but he's a long way from emotionally recovering. To be fair, Abby and Sam also still struggle to deal with what happened and how they nearly lost Jack but their fear has brought them closer together while Jack has started to keep his distance. Gone is the domineering man they love and in his place is someone who avoids spending time with them and no longer seems interested in playing games in the bedroom.

I thought Lexi Blake did a brilliant job of showing the huge effect that Jack's PTSD is having on their relationship. Coming so close to dying has made him terrified of losing Abby or Sam and he's scared that they'll eventually get sick of his controlling nature so he's trying really hard to be what he thinks they need. All Abby and Sam want is the old Jack back but they're finding it hard to get through to him and explain how they're feeling. When Jack gets a call from his mentor, BDSM club owner Julian Lodge, and has to go into the city to help him resolve a little blackmail issue, Sam and Abby take the opportunity to remind him what he's been missing out on for the last few months.

This is the story where we really see this group's emotional connection grow to match their physical one. Some of the events in the club were a little far fetched but I really enjoyed seeing Abby push her boundaries and all three of them getting their relationship back on track. I also really enjoyed meeting Julian as well as Jack's younger half-brother so I'm looking forward to spending more time with them in later books. This series has definitely been a fun one so far and the heat levels were higher than ever in this instalment.

Review:
Jack and Sam met in foster care and have been together ever since, they work together running their own cattle ranch and they play together whenever they find a willing woman but they've never found someone that they wanted to be a permanent partner until they meet Abby. Abby left Willow Fork twenty years ago under a cloud of scandal that she didn't deserve and she had no intention of ever returning. She's only come home now to take care of her sick mother but she plans on keeping her head down and escaping as soon as her mother has recovered enough to look after herself again. Plans change when she gets caught up in Jack and Sam but if the rest of the town can't leave the past where it belongs then Abby is never going to feel comfortable making her home there.

After loving Lexi Blake's recent rerelease of the newly updated Three to Ride I couldn't wait to pick up more of her stories so I immediately purchased a copy of Small Town Siren. This story has also been updated with extra chapters and additional scenes and the author is slowly rereleasing all of her books that were previously published under the pen name Sophie Oak. If you enjoy small town romances but are looking for something hotter than average and with a nice amount of suspense then I think these books are well worth checking out, especially if you're partial to menage stories!

I have to confess I didn't love the atmosphere of Willow Fork quite as much I did Bliss, there were some nice characters and I liked Abby's childhood best friend and her family but in general people in the town seemed more judgmental and willing to hold a grudge than they did in Three to Ride. Bliss is more full of fun, quirky characters and a bit of an anything goes kind of place so it had a lighter atmosphere. Having said that I think that one person in particular was causing a lot of the problems in Willow Fork and I'm really hoping that we'll see things start to change in future books!

To get back to the important part of the story I can say that I absolutely loved Jack and Sam. They're best friends who are as close as you can get but in a lot of ways they're opposites so Abby really does get the best of both worlds when she falls for both of them. Sam is more laid back and relaxed, he's happy to go with the flow and he's willing to follow Jack's lead while Jack is the dark and brooding type who is more intense and definitely prefers to be in control. They've both had difficult pasts but Abby's background hasn't been a bed of roses either so they all understand each other and are able to fulfil each other's needs.

The chemistry between them all is intense and explosive and I didn't have a problem at all with their instant lust but I do think their relationship developed quickly and moved into love and marriage territory a little too fast. I've since found out that the second book in the series, Siren in the City, is also devoted to this triad though so I'm really hoping that will give me the growing bonds I was hoping for in this one. I'm definitely happy to spend more time with these three though, I really enjoyed the beginnings of their relationship and now I'm excited to watch that relationship strengthen and get deeper.
