One night's sizzling fling will turn her world upside down . . .
Veterinary intern Emily can't believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of the Los Angeles clinic she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to LA on hold for a year while she fulfils the obligation of her scholarship.
Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn't just a laid-back doctor, but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans . . .

Review:
Emily has her entire life mapped out, finish her Veterinary intern ship and get a well paying job in LA so she can take care of her father and sister. The plan didn't include spending a year in the middle of nowhere working at a country practise but it's part of the terms for her scholarship so she'll do her time before getting out of there as quickly as possible. Things get a little bit awkward when she realises that her new boss, Wyatt, is the same gorgeous guy she had a one night stand with at a veterinary conference. It doesn't help that she still finds him insanely attractive, especially since he seems to return the sentiment, but she's determined that nothing and nobody will derail her plans for the future.
I always know I can turn to Jill Shalvis when I'm looking for something that is light hearted and fun. She is definitely one of my go to authors for contemporary romance and she never fails to leave me with a smile on my face. I love her Lucky Harbor books but I actually think the Animal Magnetism series is my favourite, any animal lover is sure to be charmed by the multitude of cute and crazy animal sidekicks this series has to offer and I love how authentic the scenes at the clinic feel. It's also nice to catch up with familiar faces along with getting glimpses of future couples and I'm very excited to start the next book which happens to be A.J. and Darcy's story.
I absolutely loved the romance between Emily and Wyatt, they have great chemistry from the beginning but the emotional connection and friendship between them builds slowly as they're working side by side. They have a lot in common and I found it completely believable that they'd fall head over heels fairly quickly. At first I struggled to understand Emily's plan and why she was so desperate to move back to LA but it quickly becomes clear that she's never had much financial stability in her life and she feels responsible for both her father and her sister's well being. She puts money and success above her own happiness because she feels like she has so many obligations. The longer she spends in Sunshine the more she starts to fall in love with not just Wyatt but also the rest of her co workers and the town in general. She starts making friends and collecting her own menagerie of animals and it's pretty obvious to everyone except her that she's where she's meant to be.
Wyatt was great, not only is he sexy as hell but he's a genuinely lovely guy, he has a great sense of humour, is good with animals, cares about his friends and family and wants to settle down. His childhood was spent constantly moving around the world with his diplomat parents and all he ever wanted was to find a place to call home. He has a history of choosing the wrong women and nobody ever seems to put him first so the last thing he needs is to fall for a woman with one foot already out the door but everything else about Emily is perfect for him. These two had a really sweet romance and the sex was smoking (I do love a couple who are a little adventurous) and I loved every minute of it.
This series just gets better and better and I can't recommend Jill Shalvis' writing highly enough. She has never let me down and I can guarantee her books will leave you with a smile on her face.

Review:
Kate has spent her whole life putting everyone else first, she may live on her own but she is constantly round at her Dad's house taking care of him and her younger siblings and even though she has been offered a scholarship to the graduate training course of her dreams for several years in a row she's never felt able to go and leave her family behind to take care of themselves. For once she wants to do something just for herself and the return of her best friend's sexy older brother Griffin gives her the perfect opportunity. Kate has had a crush on Griffin for as long as she can remember but he's never looked at her in that way. It's about time she figured out a way to change his mind, he may not be looking for a happily ever after but Kate is willing to settle for a hot fling before he leaves her and the town behind him once again. Griffin has no idea what's about to hit him but once he's had a taste of Kate he may not find it easy to let her go.
Jill Shalvis never fails to deliver a humorous story with a sweet romance, plenty of laughs along the way and Rumour Has It was no exception. I think it was actually my favourite story in the Animal Magnetism series so far! Kate and Griffin are a great couple, they have a lot of fun together but they also care deeply about each other and encourage each other to follow their dreams. Griffin had no intention of returning to Sunshine permanently, he's been retired from the military due to injuries though so he's come home to lick his wounds and decide what he wants to do with his life. It's also time for him to start building bridges with his father, they've always had a difficult relationship but they need to put the past behind them and find a way to reconnect with each other.
Kate is a really down to earth girl, she's willing to do anything for anyone and she always puts her own dreams at the bottom of the list. She's a bit of a geek and she has a tendency to blurt out random facts when she's nervous which was hilarious. I just loved her character, she's so easy to relate to and the kind of girl I can easily imagine being friends with. I loved seeing Griffin encourage her to put herself first for a change though, he is the one who pushes her into thinking about what she really wants from her future and I enjoyed seeing her spread her wings a little and learn to let her family stand on their own two feet. The couple both have their issues but over all their relationship is fairly drama free and runs quite smoothly which makes it a really fun and light hearted story. I read the whole book with smile on my face and enjoyed every minute of it. I can't get enough of this series, or anything that Jill Shalivs writes really, she is the queen of small town contemporary romances and will always be a go to author for me.

Review: Rescue My Heart - Jill Shalvis
She never wants a hero . . .
After a tragic stint in the National Guards, Adam Connelly returns to his animal shelter in Sunshine, Idaho, just wanting to be alone. Then he opens the door to the woman whose heart he once broke - still gorgeous, still tough-as-nails, yet this time, unusually vulnerable.
Adam is the last man Holly wants to see. But with her father missing, he is the only one she can count on to find him.
For Holly and Adam, each with their ghosts, a search this desperate, this unpredictable and this intimate, will have its share of risks - including opening their hearts one more time.

Review:
When I'm looking for a fun, light hearted romance that is full of humour Jill Shalvis is one of my go to authors because I know that's exactly what she'll deliver. Rescue My Heart is a perfect example of that and I enjoyed every minute of Adam and Holly's story. I'm a huge fan of the Lucky Harbor series but I think I might have to say I'm enjoying this one even more, I think it's the cute animals and their crazy antics that add that little extra something but that wouldn't work without the fantastic characters or super hot romance. Although each of the stories in this series work as a stand alone I'd recommend reading them in order because the characters do appear throughout the entire series.
If you've read the first two books you'll already know that Adam is the brother of the previous heroes Brady and Dell. You'll also know that since returning home from the war he has been suffering from PTSD and he has pretty much closed himself off from the world trying to lose himself in his work and avoid contact with people wherever possible. Adam owns the animal clinic alongside his brothers but he focuses on the Search and Rescue side of the business training S&R dogs and their handlers. He used to be active on S&R calls in the local area but ever since he returned home he suffered with panic attacks and had to take a more inactive role running the command centre. Adam and Holly were a couple when they were teenagers but Adam broke her heart when he left her behind to enlist in the army. When her father goes missing Adam is the last person she wants to ask for help but at the same time he is the only one she trusts to help her find him. Spending time together brings back all the old feelings that they used to have for each other and the chemistry between them is hotter than ever but can Adam get past his fear of relationships or will he break Holly's heart for a second time?
I absolutely loved seeing Adam and Holly spend time together, they are so hot for each other from the very first moment but there is a lot of history between them which makes it hard for Holly to trust him again. They're constantly verbally sparring and bantering with each other and although they've both changed a lot since they were dating they still have that connection that's only really there with someone you've known for a very long time. I loved that Adam doesn't judge Holly for the mistakes she's made and is proud of her for the way she has handled her problems and I loved that Holly sees Adam for the incredibly strong man that he is and refuses to let him walk away from her a second time. They both realise that they have changed in the years that they've been apart but they like what they see in each other now and they fit together even better than they did before.
Rescue My Heart has some truly funny moments, it will melt your heart, make you swoon and have you fanning yourself after the fantastic sex scenes! It was great to catch up with the previous couples and I laughed a lot at Adam's brothers and the way they were constantly trying to get the gossip about him and Holly. I also really enjoyed the glimpses we got to see of the couple from the next book, Rumour Has It. I have a feeling I'm going to love Holly's brother Griffin and her best friend Kate!

Review:
There is a reason Jill Shalvis is one of my favourite authors and it's because of the fantastic small town romances that she writes. Seriously, I don't think I've read a single one of her books that I didn't enjoy and Animal Attraction is another one to add to her list of hits. All of her books are so full of humour, they have strong themes of friendship and family and I already adore all of the characters in Sunshine. This series has the added bonus of cute fluffy animals and the crazy antics that the menagerie get up to never fail to make me laugh.
Jade moved from the city to live in Sunshine 18 months ago and has been running Belle Haven animal clinic ever since. She has become completely indispensable to vet Dell but it's not until he faces losing her that he realises it's not just her office skills he needs her for. They have become close friends since working together but neither of them have ever dared to take the next step in spite of the attraction that they both feel. Dell has never been one for relationships, he's lost too many people he cares about in his life already and refuses to let anyone else into his heart, while Jade has always known that her time in Sunshine is limited. Now that she is due to return home to Chicago in less than a month she is finally forced to face the fears that sent her running into the country in the first place. Will she be able to put her past behind her and return home to her family or will she decide that she actually belongs in Sunshine?
We met both Dell and Jade in the previous book (Animal Magnetism) and I was looking forward to seeing them act on the attraction that was obviously sparking between them. This story picks up not long after the end of the first book so we also get to see how Lilah and Brady are getting on and the scene is definitely set for the third brother Adam's story (which is up next in Rescue My Heart). That's one of the things I love most about small town romance series, you really get to know characters because you see them growing into their relationships over several books, each new books gives you the chance to see beyond the HEA of previous characters while you're getting to know a new couple.
Dell and Jade are perfect for each other. They both have issues that they need to work through but their story isn't full of clichéd misunderstandings and unnecessary angst - they are actually adult enough to talk to each other! I loved the banter between them from the very beginning, Jade is a very feisty woman with a take no crap attitude and she's more than capable of handling Dell and his brothers. She manages the animal clinic with an iron fist and keeps everything running smoothly with her OCD like efficiency. She may love her designer labels but she isn't the kind of woman who worries about getting dirty, in fact, she loves animals and is more than happy to help out in any way she can. She ran from her home scared after a brutal attack and ended up in Sunshine by mistake but now she's there she has found somewhere that she can be herself and where she doesn't have her family's expectations to live up to.
Dell is living his dream life, he loves his job, his brothers and a few close friends but he has walls up to keep out the rest of the world. On the surface he's a happy go lucky guy, someone that everyone loves, but most people don't get to see beyond that and he keeps his real self tightly closed off from all but a very select few. Dell's abandonment issues keep him alone but Jade sneaked in past his defences without him really realising it. They have become good friends and she's his right hand when it comes to business but he never really considered anything more between them. It's only now that she's handed in her notice and is planning on returning to Chicago that he really starts to understand just what he'd be losing if she goes. He's going to have to face his demons if he wants to convince her to stay.
Animal Attraction does work as a stand alone story but I think you'll get much more out of it if you read this series in order. I already adore Jill Shalvis's Lucky Harbor series but I think I may end up liking this one even more and I can't wait to carry on reading it!

Review: Animal Magnetism - Jill Shalvis
This alpha male is going to bring out her wild side . . .
Sunshine, Idaho, is a small, sunny town - the perfect home for man and beast. Well, maybe not for man, as pilot-for-hire Brady Miller discovers when his truck is rear-ended by what appears to be Noah's Ark.
As the co-owner of the town's only kennel, Lilah Young has good reason to be distracted behind the wheel - there are puppies, a piglet and a duck in her Jeep. Still, she doesn't find it hard to focus on the sexy, gorgeous stranger she's collided with.
Brady is just passing through, but there's something about Lilah and her menagerie that makes the temptation of staying in Sunshine one that's too difficult to resist . . .

Review:
I've been a huge fan of Jill Shalvis ever since I discovered her Lucky Harbor series so I was really excited when I found out that her Animal Magnetism series had been picked up by UK publisher Headline. I couldn't wait to start this series and I loved every minute of Animal Magnetism.
Lilah owns and runs the town kennel with her friend Cruz, she also runs an animal rescue charity on the side and is using what little spare time she has to study for her degree. To say she's a busy woman is an understatement but she is very independent and hates the thought of being in debt to anyone so refuses any offer of help. Brady is ex-military and now works as a pilot taking dangerous jobs around the world at a moments notice. He has never felt the need to settle down in one place and loves getting to travel for his job. He's visiting Sunshine to catch up with his two foster brothers Dell and Adam but he has no intention of staying for longer than the month he's promised them. Brady meets Lilah when she accidentally drives into the back of his truck when she's distracted by her animal passengers (2 puppies, a pot bellied pig and a duck!) and the attraction between them is instant.
Lilah hasn't been this drawn to someone for years but she really shouldn't be getting involved with someone who isn't going to stick around for long. Her close friendship with Dell and Adam means that she is constantly bumping into Brady though and he's a tough man to resist. She promises herself that they can have a fling and that she won't let her heart get involved - after all she knows up front that he's only going to be around for a few weeks - but it isn't going to be as easy as she thinks. Brady has never felt the desire to settle down but Lilah makes him feel things that leave him confused and make him long for a future he never thought he could have. He knows he shouldn't get involved with her when he has every intention of walking away, it's obvious that she gives her heart to everyone she meets and he worries about hurting her when he leaves but he just can't stay away from her. Will Brady realise that settling down isn't necessarily as scary as he always thought it would be or will he leave Lilah broken hearted when he walks away?
Jill Shalvis is one of my go to authors when I'm looking for a feel good romance and she never fails to deliver a story with great characters, a wonderful small town setting and plenty of laughs along the way. When a book has me laughing out loud within 20 pages I know I'm onto a winner and that's exactly what happened with Animal Attraction. I fell in love with both Lilah and Brady, they're such a cute couple and have fantastic chemistry, but it was their banter and the interactions between them and the various animals we meet that had me laughing all the way through the story. We are introduced to some fabulous side characters too and I can't wait for both Dell and Adam's stories. I have a feeling that this series is going to be another favourite and I'm sure it'll be one I'll be rereading in the future.
