Review:
Laird Wolf is the second novella in Vivian Arend's Takhini Shifters series and although these characters have made appearances in the Takhini Wolves books these stories are designed to be completely stand alone so it doesn't matter if you've read the previous books or not. For anyone who is familiar with the series this fits into the time line just after Copper King and before Black Gold.

Cataloguing the contents of a remote Scottish castle for the estate's executor should be easy for Addie but things are complimented by the discovery of multiple wills and the fact that she is being hounded incessantly by two of the potential heirs. Feeling creeped out and unsafe Addie calls her best friend for assistance and Lillie sends lone wolf Damon to protect her. Damon has never wanted a mate or a pack, he's always been happy to live his life on the outside, but Addie brings out all his protective instincts and he's not quite sure what to do with his feelings. One things for sure, he won't let the weird cat shifters who are fighting over the castle harm her, but after that anything goes.

I loved Damon when we met him in Copper King so I was really happy to discover he was getting his own story, he's such a fun guy and it was great to get to know him better. Damon has the strength of an alpha but after a traumatic experience when he was a teenager he has never got along very well with his inner wolf, they never really see eye to eye and he fights against his wolf instincts. Both of them are in full agreement over one thing though - the need to keep Addie safe, they are both intrigued by her and neither of them wants to let her go. Addie is a rare omega wolf and her unusual abilities make it very difficult for her to get close to anyone. She is drawn to Damon but worried about letting him close because skin to skin contact will allow her to see his innermost thoughts.

I really enjoyed the romance between these two, the banter between them was great and they make a cute couple. Addie may have asked for assistance but she's still more than capable of standing up for herself, it's just nice to know she has some back up for when she needs it. I loved how strong she is and that she isn't willing to back down when she's set her mind on something. Damon was sweet and protective and they had great chemistry. Although this is a novella and a fairly quick read I never felt that the romance was rushed, we get to see them become friends and get to know each other and it was easy to believe that they actually had a chance of making their relationship work, even without the whole werewolf mating bond going on.

If you're looking for a fun, sexy story then you can't really go wrong with any of the books in this series. Vivian Arend is one of my go to authors because she never fails to give me an enjoyable story that leaves me with a smile on my face.

Review:
Copper King is the first novella in the new Takhini Shifters series by Vivian Arend, it's currently only available in the Alpha's After Dark anthology but will be available to buy separately on the 1st of May. These stories will all be set in the same world as Vivian Arend's Granite Lake and Takhini Wolves series and there may be a slight crossover of characters across all of the series but the stories are all designed to stand alone so you can pick this up even if you're new to the world. Copper King fits into the time line just before the first Takhini Wolves book, Black Gold, the two main characters did make an appearance in Diamond Dust where they are an established couple but this is the story of how they first met so really is a great introduction to them both.

Lillie is looking for some fun in her last few days of freedom before she settles into the life her family has chosen for her. She doesn't have long and Vegas isn't her ideal destination since she is scared of crowds but it was the best option available to her and she's going to make the most of it by having a final fling - if she can find the right man that is. Jim is in Vegas with his friend Damon for their annual contest to decide who gets to keep the lucky coin they bought together as teenagers. It's been a while since Jim won and so this year he's more determined than ever and he's not going to let anyone distract him from the contest. Not even the beautiful bear shifter who has captured his attention more than any other woman in years. He might find Lillie's scent irresistible but he has more important things to deal with - unless Damon gets his way and manages to play matchmaker that is.

I've been a fan of Vivian Arend's shifter stories ever since I first discovered the Granite Lake Wolves books back in 2010 so of course I couldn't wait to start reading Copper King. She is brilliant at writing sweet romances that are full of humour and wonderful chemistry and I wasn't disappointed with her latest novella. It made a really nice change to read about a different kind of shapeshifter, I read so many books about werewolves or big cat shifters but I don't think I've read one about bears before. Don't get me wrong I love my wolves and jaguars but I had fun learning about the bears and how their instincts differ to those of the other shifters.

Jim and Lillie are both great characters and they were really well suited to each other. Lillie is quite shy and very nervous around lots of people which brings out all of Jim's protective instincts. More than anything they have fab chemistry though and I enjoyed seeing them get to know each other. The twist about how Lillie ended up in Vegas in the first place was very amusing and I enjoyed the case of mistaken identities that followed. Don't worry if you're new to Vivian Arend's world because you can easily pick up Copper King even if you've not read any of her previous stories. However, if you like this one then I'd highly recommend the rest of the Granite Lake and Tahkini Wolves series because they all have the same humour and some fantastic characters that I'm sure you'll love as much as I do.

Cat got your tongue?

Tessa Williams is looking to make her mark outside the family business, and the unusual landlocked paddle wheeler she spots in Haines, Alaska, strikes her as the perfect location. Review:
Tessa wants to break out of the family business and create something of her own, she doesn't have the sea legs to work on their cruise ships but she spotted the perfect location for the B&B she would love to open. She has her heart set on buying the property but the owner hasn't seemed very open to her plans so she has travelled to Alaska to try and convince him in person. Mark has his reasons for not selling his home but he's come around to the idea of having a business partner so a face to face meeting seems like the ideal way to sort things out. Matters are complicated when Mark recognises Tessa as his mate. All of his wolf instincts scream at him to claim her immediately but Tessa is a cat shifter who doesn't believe in true mates and she isn't going to accept him easily. She wants to be wooed and fall in love naturally but waiting isn't going to be easy for Mark.

Wolf Nip is the sixth book in the Granite Lake Wolves series and although each book focuses on a different couple and can be read as a stand alone I would still recommend reading the books in order so you can fully immerse yourself into the world Vivian Arend has created. This is such a fun series to read and this latest book was no exception. Anyone who is familiar with the earlier books will know to expect humour and sarcasm and this cat / wolf pairing definitely creates plenty of room for the pack to make cat & dog jokes!

We met Tessa in the previous book where she was in charge of the cruise ship where Keri and Jared met. She may be a cat shifter but as Keri's best friend Tessa is used to being around wolves and she saw the mating bond in action with Keri and Jared so she has an idea about the way Mark is feeling. Unfortunately she just doesn't have the same physical response to him, she's drawn to him and finds him attractive but she doesn't love him and she isn't willing to rush into anything when there is no emotion involved. Mark suffers physically because he can't claim Keri but he never tries to rush her decision. He is so caring towards her and he is determined to do whatever it takes to prove how good things could be between them if she'll give him the chance. I really liked the way he had to work to win her around and I enjoyed the build up of heat between them as they got to know each other.

If you're a fan of this series then you'll love Wolf Nip, it's a really sweet romance between a lovely couple that is full of humour and also gives us a chance to catch up with some of the pack members who we already know and love. I really hope we're going to see more instalments to the series in the future! If you're new to Vivian Arend then you're missing out so grab a copy of Wolf Signs today.

"Into the best-laid plans a little chaos must fall "

Jared is not sure how his quiet morning coffee near the harbour ended with him on a cruise ship impersonating one of his pack mates. Well, it might have something to do with a woman, but who can blame him? The female of the species was made to love, and he s more than willing to share his considerable skills in that area. Especially since he figures the chances of meeting his own one-and-only are slim.

Keri Smith is positive the last-minute recruit sneaking aboard the Arctic Wolf Cruise Lines tour is her mate. Ix-nay on confirming that, though, at least for the next ten days. She's promised her best friend to be overall troubleshooter for the shifter-only cruise. Getting tangled up in mating lust would reduce her skills to nil. Review:
Jared finds himself in hot water as he is chased through the town by the family of his latest girl. He sees the cruise ship in port and thinks it would be the perfect place for him to hide out for a few minutes and until the coast is clear but when the ship leaves before he can make his exit he realises he's going to have to make the best of things. Thankfully one of his pack mates failed to turn up for their holiday job so Jared is able to take his place. Tessa is on the ship to act as a troubleshooter and make sure everything runs smoothly for her friend's first trip as the new cruise director. As soon as Tessa spots Jared she is pretty sure he is her mate but with a thief on board she really doesn't have time to act on her instincts and take him to bed. Can they work together to discover who is up to no good?

I love Vivian Arend's Granite Lake Wolves and I'd been looking forward to Jared's story since we first met him. As the majority of Wolf Line is set on a cruise ship we don't get to see quite as much of the rest of the pack as we're used to and I did find myself missing the pack banter a little. Even without that I thoroughly enjoyed Wolf Line though, it actually made a nice change to have such a different setting for the story and it was a good way of bringing some new characters into the series. If you've enjoyed the earlier books in this series then you're definitely going to love this one just as much.

Jared is fab, he is very laid back and easy going but has always been a bit of a player when it comes to women. He isn't in a rush to find his mate but the moment he realises that he's found her he starts to realise what he has been missing all these years. Keri was great too, she is working hard to make sure everything runs smoothly to keep the pressure off her best friend. As much as she wants to act on her attraction to Jared she is worried about letting her friend down, she doesn't just abandon her responsibilities no matter how tempted she is to do so. I'm not always a fan of insta-love but I don't mind it so much in paranormal romances and it always works well in this series. There is something I find very appealing about the mating bond between these wolves! The physical connection between Jared and Keri is intense but I really enjoyed seeing them get to know each other too. There are a couple of hilarious misunderstandings between them but I loved the fact that even when they both thought that the other was up to no good their first instincts were to protect their mate and find a way to fix the mess they thought they'd got themselves into.

If you haven't discovered the Granite Lake Wolves yet then this is a series I'd highly recommend for when you're looking for a fun and hot read full of sexy shifters. I have loved all of the stories so far and can't wait to read the next one. I do think you could pick this book up even if you haven't read the rest of the series but I'm sure once you've tried this one you'll be going back to the beginning and working your way through the rest!

Review:
I have been a big fan of TJ's since we first met him in Wolf Signs so I couldn't wait to finally read his story.  He has always been such a fun character and it was great to see more of him.  Although he is clumsy and has caused a lot of giggles throughout the series in Wolf Tracks we get to see a more sensitive & serious side to him, yes he is still a lot of fun to be around but when he sets his sights on Pam he is determined to do whatever it takes to win her over.  TJ really comes into his own here and it's like we've seen him grow up as the series has progressed.

Pam was a likable heroine and different to any of the previous ones in the series.  As a human she has no idea that her best friend Maggie is a werewolf so she is in for quite a shock when she finds out the truth about TJ and his friends.  She actually finds it easier to believe in werewolves than she does in a happy ever after though so it is going to take TJ some time to convince her they are meant to be together.

As I'd expect from any of Vivian Arend's novellas Wolf Tracks has a lot of humor, scorching love scenes and a romance you can believe in.  This is a series I really love and would recommend to any paranormal romance fans who are looking for a quick read that is easy to finish in one sitting.  I'm looking forward to the next story already.

Review:
I've been a big fan of Vivian Arend's since I read the first Granite Lake Wolves novella last year, she writes fabulous paranormal romance stories (and great contemporary erotic stories too!) so I was very excited about getting started on her new series.  Black Gold is the first novel in her Takhini Wolves series which is a spin off from the Granite Lake series but can be read separately.  The main difference between the two series (apart from the fact that they revolve around 2 different wolf packs) is that the Granite Lake Wolves stories are all novellas where the books in the Takhini Wolves series will all be full length novels.  Considering that my only (minor) complaint about the first series was that I wanted more of them this is definitely a good thing and I definitely wasn't disappointed with Black Gold.

Shaun was a character I loved from the very beginning, we have met him briefly in some of the Granite Lake novellas but it was nice to get to know him better.  He has always been a happy go lucky guy who doesn't take life too seriously and tends to bumble along from one thing to the next much to the frustration of his alpha Evan.  However, since his friends have all started finding their mates and settling down Shaun has started to become lonely and all he really wants is to find his mate and start a family.  Gem couldn't be more different and I have to admit it took me a little longer to warm to her.  She has been raised in a very secluded environment by an overprotective family and this visit to the Yukon to do research is her way of finally asserting her independence.  She wants to prove to her father that she can manage on her own and that she doesn't need him running her life anymore like she was still a child.  Throughout the story Gem really comes into her own, she learns to stand up for herself and by the end I felt she made a worthy mate for Shaun.

Sparks fly immediately when Gem and Shaun first meet and they are quick to recognise the fact that they are both mates.  However, just because they are destined to be together doesn't mean that they immediately agree on how their lives will fit together.  Gem has every intention of returning to her home in the south while Shaun is happy in the north and really doesn't want to have to move to live with Gem's pack.  Shaun is naturally protective of Gem but she doesn't want someone else coming along thinking they can take control just like her family have always done.  They have a lot to work out before they can have a happy ending.

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of Black Gold, there are some hilarious moments - when Gem first meets the Tahkini alpha Evan, as Shaun & Gem try to work out their differences and in the side story with Evan and the pack females who are all chasing him.  The interactions between Shaun & Gem are scorching hot from the beginning, I think this is the hottest of Vivian's wolfie stories so far.  If you're looking for an intense paranormal romance you can't go far wrong with this one and I'd highly recommend it.  I didn't think Vivian Arend could beat the Granite Lake Wolves books but Black Gold has now become my favourite of her stories to date.  I can't wait to read the next one and I'm particularly excited to see more of Evan in the future.

Review:
Maggie is Missy's sister (we met Missy in the last novella Wolf Flight) but she was so traumatised by events in her past that she hasn't seen her sister or spent any time with other wolves for nearly a decade.  Missy has finally managed to convince Maggie to come and visit her and her new pack but Maggie is very wary and not looking forward to being surrounded by wolves. 

Erik is the Granite Lake pack's beta (second in charge) but as a favor to Missy he offers to collect Maggie from the airport and make sure she arrives safely.  As soon as they meet he recognises that she is his mate but Maggie doesn't trust the tie between them and Erik is going to have to convince her that they are meant to be together. 

I really enjoyed the first 2 novellas in the Granite Lake series so I was really looking forward to reading Wolf Games, let me just say Vivian Arend didn't disappoint & this was probably my favorite story in the series so far.  Vivian sure does manage to pack a lot into her novellas and although I would love to have one of these stories as a full length novel that is more because I just can't get enough of her wolves than because there is anything lacking from the stories.

Maggie has had a tough time when it comes to other wolves and she finds it impossible to trust them - completely understandable when you find out more about her past.  Although she is attracted to Erik she is scared of the bond between them.  She is having to deal with being around wolves for the first time in years and when she is forced to become a competitor in the Wolf Games she finds it really difficult.  I loved Erik, he is so supportive and protective of Maggie and is determined to help her see how good life could be with the pack.  He is also smoking hot but you'll have to read the story to find out just how sexy he is!

I really enjoyed watching them take part in the Wolf Games, they were kind of like the Amazing Race for werewolves & it was fun to see how things panned out.  We get to see more of TJ as he is another member of their team - I'm sure I mentioned in my previous reviews how much I love TJ & I am so excited to read his story which is released in October!  As usual TJ added a lot of comedy to the story with his clumsy ways, he would definitely be a fun guy to have around.  We were also introduced to Jared (another team member) who I'm looking forward to getting to know better in future stories.

Wolf Games is a great installment to the Granite Lake Wolves series and I'm looking forward to reading more from Vivian Arend.  I'd definitely recommend this series to fans of steamy paranormal romance - these novellas are perfect for when you want a quick but fun read and I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as I have.

Review:
I really enjoyed getting to revisit both of these couples for their first New Years celebration together.  Like with the first 2 novels the events in both of these stories run simultaniously so there is some cross over between them but I don't think it would make much difference which order you read them in.  I would recommend reading Wolf Signs and Wolf Flight first though.

Both couples have now settled into their places in pack life but they are all happy to take the opportunity for some one to one time to celebrate the new year.  I don't want to say much more than that as it would be too easy to give spoilers but I just have to say I'd love to share a picnic with Tad one day!  If you're a fan of this series then I'm sure you'll enjoy both of these stories so make sure you check them out.

Review:
Tad is a werewolf but his wolf genes have never been triggered because he hasn't had sex with another werewolf.  Although he has had offers from other female wolves he hasn't found anyone who he wants to be with and is unsure if he wants to trigger the wolf genes.

Missy is an Omega wolf which means that she has the ability to control the emotions of other wolves in her pack.  She is terrified of her Alpha and remembering Tad from when they were teenagers she turns to him for help.

We first met Tad, who is Robyn's brother, in Wolf Signs and I was hoping that we'd get to read his story so I was really looking forward to reading Wolf Flight.  This story is set in the same time line as Wolf Signs so it begins with Tad worrying about Robyn as she goes off to the isolated mountain retreat without him.  I liked the fact that we got to see Tad's side of the story but I would recommend reading the books in order so that you don't find out any spoilers for Wolf Signs.

The opening scenes with Missy introduce us to her Alpha Doug and let me just say Vivian did a brilliant job creating a completely detestable bad guy - I hated him immediately!  It was easy to see why Missy was so terrified and desperate to escape from him.  Missy and Tad had dated as teenagers but when they meet again the chemistry between them is so hot it's combustible.  There was more action in Wolf Flight than the first book but that didn't take away from the romance between Missy and Tad - it just added an extra layer to the story.  I'm really enjoying this series and can't wait to read the next book.  I'd happily recommend this series to any paranormal romance and shifter fans.

Review: Wolf Signs - Vivian Arend

Review:
Robyn was supposed to be going on a trip to the isolated mountain cabin with her brother Tad but when he has to work she is determined to go alone.  She isn't going to let the fact that she is deaf get in her way & stop her doing anything.  She gets more than she bargained for when she literally bumps into TJ and Keil in a rather embarassing situation.

Keil instantly recognises Robyn as his mate but he already has plenty on his plate with his upcoming challenge to become pack alpha.  Things are made even more difficult when he realises that Robyn has no idea that she has werewolf genes - it isn't going to be easy to explain things to her and get her to believe they belong together.

Although I felt that Robyn accepted the fact that she is a werewolf a little too quickly and easily I loved the passion between her & Keil.  Keil is definitely one hot alpha male but Robyn is also strong enough to be an alpha in her own right so they are a very good match.  I loved the twist that Vivian Arend has put on the usual werewolf mythology and am looking forward to finding out more about this in future books in the series.  TJ was a great secondary character & I really hope we get to read both his & Tad's stories in future books.

I thought this was a great start to the series and it had a bit of everything that makes a paranormal romance great - romance, passion and a little comedy and action thrown in for good measure.  This really was a great quick read & I was quickly caught up in the story - I would have liked it to be longer though!  I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series
