Review:

A Queen of Ruin is the fourth and final book in K.F. Breene's Beauty and the Beast inspired dark fairytale series so I'm going to assume if you're reading this review you've already read the first two books. I'm going to keep the review deliberately vague to avoid spoilers for this book but events from previous books may be referenced. 

I've been totally hooked on this series since book one was published and have eagerly waited for each instalment since then so I was both excited and a bit nervous for this final book. I wanted it to be amazing but at the same time I didn't want it to end. I'm happy to say A Queen of Ruin is everything I hoped for and then some, it's a long book and so much happens but I really don't want to go into much detail because I'd hate to accidentally spoiler anyone. 

What I will say is that I was excited to get to spend some time exploring other kingdoms and meeting some of the other rulers, I loved getting to know the new characters from the last book even better and I was thrilled with the way Finley and Nyfain's relationship has developed over the course of the series. This final book was an emotional rollercoaster and there was one moment that shocked me to my core and had me so emotional I had to put it down and walk away for a bit before I could carry on reading but I still loved every minute of it.

I'm sad the series has come to an end but I love the way everything has wrapped up and I think we got a really fitting end to the series. That said I have really high hopes for a spin off or two, not because things have been left unfinished but because some of the side characters are so fantastic I want to spend more time with them. I can't say who because *spoiler* BUT one in particular is part of a HUGE revelation that I'm desperate to know more about. I'm sure anyone who has read the book will know exactly what I'm talking about.

K.F. Breene has long been an auto-buy author for me and this series has only cemented her place on my favourite authors list.

Review:

A Kingdom of Ruin is the third book in K.F. Breene's Beauty and the Beast inspired dark fairytale series so I'm going to assume if you're reading this review you've already read the first two books. I'm going to keep the review deliberately vague to avoid spoilers for this book but events from previous books may be referenced. 

I have loved this series from the first book but it just keeps getting better and better with every instalment. After the cliffhanger ending of book 2 I knew Finley was going to be in for a bumpy ride in this book but there was so much I didn't expect from this story, especially the fun new allies she met along the way. Trapped in the demon realm thanks to the bargain she made to protect Nyfain Finley is now Dolion's prisoner and has a newfound home in his dungeon. Her bond to Nyfain protects her from some things but it doesn't stop physical torture from her guards so her life is now mostly pain and anguish as she tries to figure out a way to escape.

I really admire Finely's attitude and the way she is so determined to fight for and protect the people she cares about no matter what it costs her personally. She has earned a lot of respect from friends she made in Nyfain's court and her selfless attitude is starting to rub off on some of them which leads to some interesting developments. I love that we got some of the story from Hadriel's point of view here, his character is just so funny and gave some much needed light relief in places.

I don't want to say much about the new characters that we are introduced to but there are some I absolutely loved and can't wait to see more of in the future. There were some great revelations in this book and things are only going to get more interesting in the next book thanks to the way things ended. Luckily this didn't finish on such a cliffhanger as A Throne of Ruin but it's still left me wanting the next book ASAP.

Review:

I'm going to come straight out and say I'm loving K.F. Breene's take on the Beauty and the Beast fairytale and I'm so happy we still have two more books to come in this series. A Throne of Ruin takes everything I loved about A Ruin of Roses and builds on it. More of the snarky humour, more of Finley's protective instincts to protect the people around her, a few more layers peeled back from the mysterious and sexy Nyfain not to mention plenty of kink.

I love that the romance isn't being rushed in this series but that we're seeing a very natural progression with the bond between Finley and Nyfain. As their feelings increase so does the danger surrounding them and I think they have a lot more to deal with before they'll be able to enjoy a HEA but I know I can trust this author to give them the ending they deserve.

I'm really enjoying spending time in this world but I'm going to warn you now the cliffhanger at the end is a doozy. It was a natural stopping point for the story but it has left me desperate to get my hands on the next instalment. I can't wait to see how Finley deals with the latest developments! This really is turning out to be a fantastic retelling and I can't recommend it highly enough to Beauty and the Beast fans.

Review:

I'm a huge lover of all fairytale retellings but Beauty and the Beast ones have always been my favourites so when I found out K.F. Breene was writing one I couldn't get hold of a copy fast enough and A Ruin of Roses was a book I absolutely devoured. It has all the main requirements for a retelling so the story has a familiar feel to it but at the same time the author has put in enough of her own world building to also make it feel fresh and exciting.

I loved the main character Finley, she's no weak wallflower even though she's not the most powerful character physically. She has a strength of will and determination to protect her family at all costs and she also has a brilliantly snarky sense of humour that helps her see the funny side even when the odds are against her. 

Nyfain is harder to get a read on because he's so secretive and mysterious but I love a hero with layers and I'm sure there is so much more to uncover about him as the series continues. At the moment the curse is presumably making it difficult for him to talk about certain things so it'll be interesting to see how that resolves itself in the next book.

I think there's great potential for romance between Finley and Nyfain but I'm glad that it's not being rushed considering the circumstances of their meeting. They have chemistry already though and I can't wait to see it progress.

I'm already all in on this series, its dark but funny, full of action and will take you for a walk on the wild side. Bring on the rest of the trilogy!

Review:
It's no secret that I'm a Pippa DaCosta fangirl so of course I've been eagerly waiting for Twilight Seeker ever since she first announced it but I'm going to say it here and now that she has completely outdone herself with this one. The story had me hooked from the first page with its brilliant world building and fantastic characters. Nothing is quite what it seems when it comes to the Night Station, it's magical, dangerous and full of secrets. I think we've only started to scratch the surface and I can't wait for the next book so we can dig down a few more layers.

Lynher is a great character, she's a normal human in a world full of demons, vampires and fae who all consider her prey. It is her job to run the Night Station and keep the peace amongst her guests but she's at a physical disadvantage compared to everyone around her so she's walking a very fine line keeping everything balanced. It's all about keeping up appearances and making sure the guests see her as someone to be wary of rather than someone they can walk right over. She's not completely powerless though and again I think we have a lot more to learn about what she's truly capable of.

While juggling the needs of her guests Lynher is also working alongside the human resistance doing everything she can to rescue as many humans as possible from slavery to the vampires and other supernatural races. Throw in characters like Rafe, the incubus who has been attempting to seduce her for as long as she can remember, and Just Jack, a new arrival at the Night Station who is obviously more than he seems, and I have absolutely no idea where this series is going to take us next. We've already had so many twists so while I have a few suspicions about certain people I'm pretty sure Pippa will turn everything on its head all over again in the next book.

Series like this are the reason I love urban fantasy and I'm so happy we only have to wait until July for the second book, Night Scourge, although if Pippa could write a little faster and let me have it sometime next week I definitely would't complain LOL.

Review:
Working for red dragon Mr Kurosawa is keeping Owl rather busy as he sends her around the globe to find rare treasures for his collection. She's not averse to helping herself to a few extra items from the sites he sends her too so when she is accused of the theft of a collection of cursed items it's no surprise that even her friends have trouble believing her innocence. The IAA and her boss certainly think she's been up to no good and unless she manages to steal the items back along with some kind of evidence she wasn't the original thief then she's going to be in a whole heap of extra trouble.

If you enjoyed the first book in the Adventures of Owl series I'm sure you're going to enjoy Owl and the City of Angels even more. I love the tomb raiding Indiana Jones type feel to the story and it was great to see Owl exploring more ancient sites and finding all kinds of trouble to get herself into. Owl is an interesting character, she actually irritated me a bit in the first book but we definitely see some growth in this one and although she still isn't perfect she has started to learn from her mistakes. I do want to see her start taking more responsibility for her actions but she's definitely moving in the right direction on that front so I hope she continues making progress.

It's the side characters that make this series for me though, you have sexy and mysterious badass Rynn who has the unenviable job of trying to protect Owl from herself (and if Owl doesn't change the nickname she uses for him soon then so help me god I will strangle her myself!), then there's her fashion loving, sarcastic best friend Nadya who really helps to ground Owl and show her when she's being an idiot, and now we finally get to meet her online friend Carpe face to face. I'm not sure whether I trust him or not yet but he did add some humour to the story. My favourite character in the series has to be her Egyptian Mau, Captain though, trust me if you're ever in trouble with the vampires you need a cat like Captain on your side!

This is a fun series that doesn't take itself too seriously and is very easy to read. The way this story ended left me desperate to get my hands on the next one as one character has been left in a great deal of trouble so I'm glad I don't have to wait too much longer to find out what will happen there.

Review:
The Sin City Collectors series is a collaboration between Amanda Carlson and Kristen Painter, each author has written 3 stories set in the same world that are available either as stand alone novellas or in one of two collections. This first volume contains all of Amanda Carlson's contributions: Aces Wild, Ante Up and All In, the three stories all follow on very closely from one another so although each novella features a different couple there is a story arc that goes across all three. I'm not sure if there is any crossover of characters into Kristen Painter's novellas as I've not read those yet but I believe they have a similar story arc and would also be best read in order.

Each of these stories features characters who are members of the Sin City Collectors, an elite team who are tasked with tracking down supernaturals that have broken the law and they will do whatever it takes to bring their target to justice.

I'll give you a quick overview of the stories but I don't want to go into too much detail because it would be easy to give you spoilers:

Aces Wild
Dhampir Collector Nevada has only one rule, she does not bring in vampires. Ever. So she's not best pleased about her latest job, especially since the boss has paired her up with the sexy hellhound Jake to make sure she gets the job done. Nevada and Jake have history and although their last meeting might have been the hottest night of her life it didn't end well so she has no intention of going back for more. Jake has never forgotten the night they shared though and he's not about to let Nevada walk away for a second time without putting up a fight.

Ante Up
Diesel is a shapeshifter who has been trying to get a job with the Sin City Collectors for a long time but his issues with control around the full moon have always made him too much of a wild card. Now he is finally being given the chance of a lifetime and if he can bring in a rogue incubus he'll land his dream job. The incubus has set his sights on a powerful local witch Sofia and Diesel will do whatever it takes to protect the woman who has slowly been stealing his heart.

All In
Ginger is a succubus who has spent years searching for her brother and trying to rescue him from the clutches of a criminal organisation but all her efforts have earned her is a target on her back thanks to the way that the Sumerians have set her up to take the fall for their own activities. Shapeshifter Luke has been tasked with bringing in both Ginger and her brother but he is determined to help her gather enough evidence to prove her innocence before he does. He also has every intention of keeping her safe from her brother, no matter what he has to do to succeed.

The Sin City Collectors Boxed Set is an enjoyable anthology of short but hot reads and I really liked the world the author has created. I actually listened to the audiobook version and I thought that narrator Emma Wilder did a great job reading it. My only complaint was that I didn't really like the voice she used for Sofia's character but that was definitely a personal taste thing rather than a problem with the story or narrator. I'm hoping that Amanda Carlson might decide to write more stories in this world (if nothing else I'd definitely love to read more about Raoul!) but I'm looking forward to picking up Kristen Painter's collection in the meantime.

Review: Owl and the Japanese Circus - Kristi Charish

Review:
Owl used to be an archaeology student but now she's an antiquities thief and a very good one at that. If there is treasure hidden in a tomb somewhere and you want to acquire it Owl is your girl but at the moment you might find she's a little distracted by the vampires that are trying to murder her in revenge for an unfortunate accident. Staying one step ahead of the vampires is exhausting and not likely to be something she can manage for any length of time without help but there isn't really anyone she can turn to. Until she is approached by Mr. Kurosawa, a dragon shifter who owns a popular Las Vegas casino, that is. Mr. Kurosawa has a small task for her and if she can find an artifact that was stolen from him 3,000 years ago he has promised to deal with her vampire problem permanently. Either way he'll keep them off her back while she's working so it's not really an offer she can turn down.

Owl and the Japanese Circus is a promising start to Kristi Charish's first series, there are definitely a lot of things to like about the world she has created and I enjoyed this enough to want to pick up the sequel. I really liked the author's take on vampires, it can be hard to come up with something different in such a saturated market but she managed it, and the whole supernatural underground has a lot of potential, we've already met several different species and I'm sure there are more to come as we continue to explore the world with Owl. I also really enjoyed the Indiana Jones feel to the treasure hunting parts of the story, I actually would have liked to see Owl spending more time exploring ancient sites searching for clues but I was satisfied with what we've had so far.

Where things went slightly wrong for me was actually with Owl and that's a potentially huge problem. I liked her a lot in the beginning but the more time we spent with her the more she seems to come across as stupidly stubborn and a little childish. She makes quite a few stupid mistakes and I was incredibly annoyed with the way she treated the people closest to her, especially her kind of boyfriend Rynn (more on him later). I absolutely hated the names she called him, particularly when the first time it happened she really hurt him but then she continued to use the same names deliberately as a "joke". It wasn't funny the first time Owl so it sure as hell wasn't funny the second, third or fourth time either. I get that Owl doesn't spend much time with people, she's always been a loner and even though she is fairly close to her best friend Nadya they don't spend much time together so she's more than a little socially awkward. That excuse holds up to a point but when you keep making the same mistakes over and over again then the excuse starts wearing very, very thin. Learn from your actions and change them next time please. I do have hope that Owl will grow as the series continues, after all it's no fun if main characters start out perfect, the whole point of reading a series is that we get to see the characters improve, but she's going to have to make a few big changes fast or I doubt I'll get beyond book 2 and that would be a real shame.

Now I've got that little complaint out of the way let's get back to the positives. First and foremost I absolutely loved Owl's main sidekick, her Egyptian Mau cat called Captain. Captain has been trained to hunt and kill vampires and he just added so much fun to the story. I actually have a bit of a soft spot for feline sidekicks so that's definitely an easy way to get bonus points from me! I also liked Nadya who I think must have the patience of a saint to put up with Owl sometimes. Then you have Rynn, now he is a character I want to spend more time with! As far as book boyfriends go Rynn is pretty much spot on, he's hot, he's protective, there is a lot more to him than meets the eye and he has that bad boy charm that comes from being dark and mysterious. I love that we've already uncovered a few of his secrets but I'm sure there is a lot more to come from his character too.

Overall, I do think this was a positive start to the series and I'm definitely planning on reading Owl and the City of Angels to see what happens next. If Owl can just make a concerted effort to be a bit nicer to the people around her then I think I'm going to end up loving this series.

Review: Base Instincts - Larissa Ione

Review:
Raze is a seminus demon who literally has to have sex with women just to survive so even though he's only really attracted to men he can never have an exclusive relationship with a guy. He likes the healing abilities that his seminus side gives him and loves his job working as a paramedic but he has come to accept that he will never be happy in his personal life. Rather than constantly having to find random women to hook up with, like most Seminus demons do before they're mated, Raze has come to an arrangement with his friend Fayle who is a succubus so also has feed off of sex to survive. They have a strong friendship but neither of them are looking for more than that so their relationship has always worked for them both, even though Fayle's possessiveness has become more than a little awkward.

Slake bartered with his soul for protection from his family, agreeing to work as an assassin and finder for a demon owned law firm for a limited contract and forfeiting his soul if he fails. If he can complete just one more job for them he will earn back his freedom and all he has to do is capture Fayle and bring her back to her family. Unfortunately for him the job is a lot more complicated because of his attraction to Raze, especially when he realises how important Fayle is for Raze's survival.

I've been a fan of this series from the beginning so of course I jumped at the chance of reading Base Instincts. I love that Larissa Ione has included an MM story in the series and I was rooting for Raze and Slake from the beginning. I thought I had a pretty good idea of how things would play out when I picked this up but it wasn't at all what I expected and the resolution to Raze's problem was a really creative one. I'm not going to say more because I don't want to give spoilers but it just goes to prove that there is someone out there for everyone no matter what issues you may have!

Even though this isn't a full length novel Larissa Ione did a great job of making me care about the characters involved, Raze and Slake have both been through a lot in their pasts and there were some nice messages in here about being yourself and not letting other people put you down because they don't agree with your choices. There was perhaps a little less tension than in some of the other books in the series but I didn't have a problem with that and I loved the little cameo appearances from some of the previous characters. Reading Base Instincts reminded me how much I love the seminus siblings and really made me want to go back and start rereading the series from the beginning which to me is the sign of a very good story.

Review:
This is the second volume in the Masters of Seduction multi-author series containing stories by Lara Adrian, Donna Grant, Laura Wright and Alexandra Ivy. Although each novella in the series features a different main couple there is an overarching plot that carries across the whole series so I would recommend reading both volumes in order to get the most out of the reading experience.

I'll give you a quick overview of the stories but I don't want to go into too much detail because it would be easy to give you spoilers:

Priceless - Lara Adrian
Sorin is the Master of Ebarron and in control of the family's assets so when he is contacted by a young woman who wants to buy back one of the treasures they have purchased he isn't willing to let it go. Ashayla will do anything to get back her family heirloom, it's her grandmother's dying wish to have it back so she doesn't have much time to work with and she sets out to Sorin's casino with a plan to steal it. Unfortunately for her things don't go quite to plan and it might cost her more than she could ever have dreamed of to get back her grandmother's pendent. This was such a fun story, I loved how determined Ashayla was and really enjoyed the banter between her and Sorin.

Boundless - Donna Grant
Naomi knew nothing of the supernatural world until her sister was murdered by an incubus, now after reading her sister's diaries she has a suspect and she is determined to make sure Javan pays for his crime. Javan isn't a murderer but he is the Master of Drohas and since Naomi's sister was one of the artists that his family sponsored he is just as keen to find out who killed her. The pair have to work together to find out what really happened and the sparks are soon flying between them. Another enjoyable read and I though they were a really cute couple.

Dauntless - Laura Wright
Cas may love to party and have fun but as Master of Trevanion he knows it is his duty to mate into a well connected family. His mother is determined to see him with someone who will help secure the family's link to royalty and she doesn't care whether Cas likes his intended mate or not. Then at the ball where is mating should be announced he spots a beautiful stranger and his life is turned upside down. This sweet and hot story was definitely my favourite in the anthology (that's 2 out of 2 for Laura Wright!), it's a Cinderella retelling which is probably one of the reasons I loved it so much, I'm a sucker for fairytales!

Reckless - Alexandra Ivy
Tiege is a play boy who loves nothing more than partying but he's had to step up and take over as Master of Furia after the death of his brother's mate. He isn't going to let his new role stop him from having fun though. Sloane is a former Nephilim Blade who has spent her whole life putting her duty above everything else. The two of them should be like oil and water but when Tiege is desperate to feed and Sloane is the only one available to help him the passion that flares between them is surprisingly hot. I enjoyed the connection between these two, I loved how noble Sloane is and it was fun to see Tiege's heart captured.

Masters of Seduction is an enjoyable anthology of short but hot reads by some fantastic authors. As much as I would have loved for these stories to be longer so that more time could have been spend developing the different relationships if you're in the mood for something quick but satisfying then I'd recommend checking out this series.

Review:
This is the first volume in the new Masters of Seduction series by four bestselling authors Lara Adrian, Donna Grant, Laura Wright and Alexandra Ivy. I've read books by all of these authors before and I'm a huge fan of Lara Adrian so I had high hopes for these novellas and I did enjoy the anthology. I have to say I would have loved for each of the stories to have been longer so that the authors could have given us more relationship building rather than the pretty instant connections that we get here but I expect shorter romances in novellas so this didn't bother me too much.

I'll give you a quick overview of the stories but I don't want to go into too much detail because it would be easy to give you spoilers:

Merciless - Lara Adrian
Devlin is seeking justice after his brother's murder and when the nephilim priestesses aren't able to resolve the situation he takes Nahiri, one of their warriors, hostage. Nahiri and Devlin uncover a conspiracy that is much larger than one murdered incubus and this sets the scene for the whole series. This was a really enjoyable story full of passion and quite a sweet romance.

Soulless - Donna Grant
Canaan has been trapped in the Oubliette (the nephilim prison) for over 500 years after he was betrayed by someone close to him. Now he has escaped and he is determined to find out who was behind his imprisonment and make them pay. Rayna is a nephilim and therefore should be considered the enemy but she is the only one who can help him uncover the truth and as they work together they fall in love. I enjoyed this story a lot but I did feel that the big showdown against Canaan's enemy was resolved a little too quickly and easily, I think this could have been a much better story if it had been longer.

Shameless - Laura Wright
Incubus Scarus is visiting the nephimi harem because he desperately needs to feed, he has chosen Rosamund because he can feel her power but Rosamund never wanted to be picked for the harem and she has no intention of letting Scarus get close to her. This was my favourite story in the anthology, it actually seemed to be almost outside of the timeline for the rest of the series because it had much less focus on the ongoing plot but that meant there was much more focus on the main couple and the romance between them and is probably why I liked it so much.

Ruthless - Alexandra Ivy
Jian is a spy investigating the conspiracy that Devlin discovered and he has returned to the Oubliette where Canaan was held captive looking for more clues. While there he meets the Muriel, an angel who is much more than she seems and who may hold the key to uncovering what is really going on and who is behind the plot against the incubi.

Masters of Seduction is an enjoyable anthology of short but hot reads by some fantastic authors. It's an anthology I enjoyed reading and I'm looking forward to seeing how things play out in the next volume of the series.

Review: Monster in My Closet - R.L. Naquin

I stopped believing in monsters long ago. But I knew I wasn't imagining things when I found one in my kitchen baking muffins. Review:
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading Monster in My Closet, this is the first book in what is set to be an incredibly fun series and I can't wait to read more from R.L. Naquin. The main character Zoey is just your average girl, she lives a fairly normal life and enjoys working alongside her best friend Sara as a wedding planner. Zoey hasn't believed in monsters since she was a child and thought she saw one hiding in her closet but of course she grew out of that fear, until she comes downstairs one morning only to be confronted by that exact same monster sitting at her kitchen table drinking coffee and reading the newspaper! Zoey quickly comes to realise that monsters are real but they aren't always the bad guys and before long she has a house full of closet monsters, brownies and all manner of other creatures that she didn't even know existed.

Considering she is thrown in at the deep end Zoey copes quite well with her uninvited guests and she quickly becomes friends with closet monster Maurice and her other visitors. I had so much fun watching Zoey try to come to terms with her new reality, at first she thinks she is losing her mind but with her empathic abilities she quickly adapts to a new way of life. Zoey's mother disappeared when she was a child but it turns out that she used to help supernatural creatures who had nowhere else to turn. Their problems are often very human but where else does a closet monster go when he finds out his wife has been cheating on him and he needs a place to stay? How many refuges do you know of for brownies who are suffering from domestic violence?

Zoey is largely untrained on how to use her empathic abilities, she finds it difficult to be around crowds of people because she has no idea how to shield herself from the onslaught of emotions and her power makes her aura shine brightly which soon attracts the attention of a passing incubus. Zoey is now a target and with the help of her friends she is going to have to put a stop to the incubus before he can kill more innocent women. Without a doubt it is the characters that made this book so much fun to read, I loved Zoey but I also enjoyed getting to know the supernatural creatures who come into her life. Maurice is definitely a favourite and I hope we're going to be seeing a lot more of him as the series continues.

Monster in My Closet is a light hearted and very amusing story that I devoured in one sitting. It has action, comedy and a hint of romance that I'm hoping will be expanded upon in the next book. Zoey is the kind of woman you can easily picture yourself being friends with, she isn't kickass, and she doesn't really have any special powers apart from her empathy but she has some great friends who are there to support her. She also happens to have a fantastic shoe collection and how can you not like a woman who owns a pair of Iron Fist Zombie stiletto heels?

Come on, what woman doesn't want a pair of these bad boys in their wardrobe? LOL

Review:
Bewitch is the fifth story in Felicity Heaton's Vampire Erotic Theatre series and the first full length novel. Although I've enjoyed the previous novellas it was great to have a longer story to really get my teeth into and I think Bewitch is my favourite in the series so far. Each of these stories does work as a stand alone but I would recommend reading all of the books in order, they are great steamy reads and I've thoroughly enjoyed them all.

Payne has promised his friend Andreu that he will help find a solution to the curse that was placed on Varya but he seems to be running out of options. Everything he has tried so far has failed and his last chance is to find someone from the fae realm who can help him get his hands on a very rare artefact that might break the spell. Unfortunately it isn't easy to get any of the fae to trust someone who is half vampire and half incubus. That is where the witch Elissa comes in, she has her own reasons for helping Payne but only if he will return the favour. She will help him find the artefact but only if he helps her recover something precious that was stolen from her and has been hidden in the same location.

I already knew that I was going to love Payne's story and I'm so glad that he lived up to my expectations. We get to know him so much better here and we finally understand why he hates his incubus side so much. He has a dark past, one that broke my heart to read about, so I really was pleased to see him get a happy ending. Payne gives new meaning to tortured heroes, his vampire and incubus sides are constantly at war with each other and he has spent so long being afraid of his incubus side that he has lost the ability to control his powers. It makes him terrified of making a mistake and hurting Elissa but she is determined to break through his tough shell and act on the chemistry between them. If you've read any of the previous stories in the series you'll be expecting a hot read but trust me this was the most scorching one yet and I'm surprised that Payne and Elissa didn't melt my kindle!

Both of these characters have very good reasons not to trust each other and they are both wary of getting hurt again so one of the things I really appreciated was how naturally their relationship develops. They slowly grow to trust each other as they spend more time together. One of the things I loved the most about Elissa was the fact that she saw the whole of Payne, even the parts he tries so hard to keep hidden. It is thanks to her help that Payne finally starts to accept who he is and feels like he can put his past behind him and look towards the future.

If you're looking for a hot, spicy read with elements of kink and a real emotional connection between the characters then Bewitch is just want you need. Another fantastic instalment to a wonderful series and I'm dying to get my hands on the next book to finally have the chance to read Snow's story!

Review: The Asylum Interviews: Bronx - Jocelynn Drake

In Low Town, where humans walk and work side-by-side with elves, vampires, ogres, and all manner of creature, it's understandable that people occasionally need a little help in their lives. Whether is love, work, or ... other, tattoo artists are there to try to help turn the odds into your favour. When Gage's friend Parker needs help with his love life, tattoo artists Gage and Bronx are only too happy to help. But the incubus ends up getting more than he bargained for with his new tattoo, and his friends are forced to scramble to fix the mess they've created before someone gets hurt.

Review:
The Asylum Interviews are two prequel novellas for Jocelyn Drake's new Asylum Tales series and this first story Bronx gets us off to a great start. The author has created what looks to be a promising world full of an interesting selection of paranormal creatures from warlocks and witches through to incubi and even trolls. It can be hard to introduce a new world in a novella but I think the author has done a fantastic job, she gave enough information to hook me in without too much info dumping to take away from the story. The plot was solid and gives a good insight into people who I'm assuming will be some of the main players in the series.

Our main character is Gage who is the owner of the Asylum tattoo parlour and a skilled tattoo artist. We get a few hints at a troubled past and he seems to have plenty of secrets that I'm looking forward to exploring as the series continues. When a night out with a friend goes awry Gage is rescued by troll Bronx. Bronx is also a tattoo artist and is in the area because he had heard that Gage might be hiring so when Gage's friend asks for a tattoo to help with a very specific problem Bronx offers to help. The tattoos that Gage and Bronx create aren't quite the same as the tattoos that we are all familiar with, well they may look the same but potions mixed in with the inks can be used to create all kinds of different effects. Unfortunately the tattoo they create for incubus Parker has a very awkward side effect and it isn't going to be easy for Bronx and Gage to fix the problem that they have caused.

As someone who loves tats I always look out for stories where the main characters have tattoos - there is something irresistible about a hunky, inked up hero! - so I can't tell you how excited I am about the idea of a series set around a tattoo parlour. Especially one that creates magical tattoos! If the unforeseen side effects of the tattoos are always this interesting then I have a feeling this is going to be a very amusing series. I would like to point out that the cover is a little misleading, it looks more like a paranormal romance cover but the story is definitely urban fantasy. There is no romance in sight so though don't be put off by the cover if you're not a PNR fan.

If you're already excited about Jocelynn Drake's new series then this novella will definitely help to whet your appetite for Angel's Ink but if you've not heard of the series before or like me are new to the author then this would be a great place to start.

Review:
Enslave is the fourth story in Felicity Heaton's Vampire Erotic Theatre series and although it works as a standalone romance I'd recommend reading the series in order. This is an incredibly steamy series of novellas and one that I've been thoroughly enjoying so I would definitely recommend checking them out if you haven't already.

We were briefly introduced to Andreu in the last book but we didn't know much about him so I was looking forward to discovering more. He is Javier's brother and has come to the theatre to cover for him so he can go on his honeymoon. Andreu also wants to learn more about how the theatre is run so that he can open his own version when he returns to Spain. Andreu plans to take a much less hands on approach to running his own theatre than his brother though, employing others to do the work and leaving himself free to make the most of the profits. As much as he admires Javier's business he finds it harder to understand his brother's relationship choices - the last thing he is looking for is a long term relationship! Andreu likes his freedom too much and won't let anything or anyone take that away from him.

We have come across vampires and werewolves in the series so far but this time we are introduced to succubus Varya. Varya has wandered into the theatre looking for an easy meal but she had forgotten how easily older vampires are able to sense her kind. She is drawn to Andreu from the moment she sees him but it is forbidden for her kind to feed from vampires. No matter how much she knows she shouldn't Varya can't help but keep coming back hoping to get a taste of him. She soon finds herself in over her head when the owners of Vampirerotique catch her intruding and take steps to prevent her from leaving.

As with the previous stories in the series the chemistry between Andreu and Varya is off the charts. Neither of them is shy in going after what they want and they both have plenty of experience at spicing things up a bit. Varya's need to feed on sexual energy adds an extra element and they make the most of the shows put on in the theatre! What I love most about this series is that Felicity doesn't just focus on the physical side of the couple's relationship so we also get to see them build a real emotional connection. Andreu and Varya both have issues that they need to work through but they come out stronger on the other side.

My only disappointment with this series is that I'm going to have to wait for the next two stories but I'm very curious to find out more about Payne and I'm dying to get my hands on Snow's story!
