Crafting Corner: Nail Art

Crafting Corner is a monthly feature will appear on the blog on the first Saturday of the month and I hope that some of you will join in with me. Crafting Corner is somewhere for us to chat about anything craft related - it can be sewing, painting, drawing, model making, in fact pretty much anything goes. You may want to review crafting books or just talk about any current projects you're working on or things that you'd like to start. I don't really have a set format for these posts so I'm just going to roll with it and see what happens but hopefully some of you will find it interesting and be willing to share what you're working on too. It doesn't matter what day of the month you join in but if you do take part please come leave a link to your post in the comments so that I can check out what you've been creating!

Today I thought it would be fun to post about one of my other addictions - nail polish! I am almost as addicted to buying nail polish as I am to buying books and I love messing around doing different types of designs on my nails. I've recently discovered loads of new techniques like water marbling (which I'm still terrible at but I'm determined to get right one day!) and I'm desperate to have a go at stamping but for now I mainly stick with using a dotting tools to make different sized spots and various types of tape to create stripes or triangles.

I'm going to try and include new designs in my crafting corner posts from now onwards but here are some of my favourites from the last few months to start off with:

Pandas & Minions

Butterfly Wings & a pattern with one of my favourite orange polishes

The slideshow below shows some of the other designs I've done too.

  2. You should definitely try stamping, I wouldn't really say it was easier than the dotting and designs, I've tried both and they each had advantages and disadvantages. The stamping can be hit and miss, with getting the right amount of polish, making sure it goes on exactly where you want it to go, but they do have some great designs :)

    1. Hi Michelle, I actually bought a Konad nail stamping kit while I was on holiday. I've only played with it once and I completely get what you mean about needing to get the knack of getting the design in the right place on your nail but I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy playing around with it :o)
