Review: Full Moon Rising - Keri Arthur

A rare hybrid of vampire and werewolf, Riley Jenson and her twin brother, Rhoan, work for Melbourne's Directorate of Other Races, an organisation created to police the supernatural races - and protect humans from their depredations. While Rhoan is an exalted guardian, a.k.a. assassin, Riley is merely an office worker - until her brother goes missing on one of his missions. The timing couldn't be worse. More werewolf than vampire, Riley is vulnerable to the moon heat, the week long period before the full moon, when her need to mate becomes all-consuming...

Luckily Riley has two willing partners to satisfy her every need. But she will have to control her urges if she's going to find her brother...

Review:
Riley and her twin brother Rhoan both work for the Directorate of Other Races (an organisation that protects humans from the supernatural races). Rhoan is a Guardian meaning he is on the front line when any of the supernaturals start causing trouble but Riley doesn't want to be a killer and is happy with her admin job. When her brother goes missing Riley is worried - other guardian's who have disappeared recently have all turned up dead and she can't bear the thought of anything happening to Rhoan. She asks her boss to investigate but he thinks this is the perfect opportunity to prove to Riley that she has what it takes to be a great guardian.

The search for Rhoan is complicated when Riley returns home to find a naked vampire waiting on her doorstep - Quinn has no memory of what happened to him but knows he needs Rhoan's help. Riley is going to have to try and control the urges she feels due to the heat of the moon for long enough to find Rhoan and help Quinn.

I've said before what a big fan I am of Keri Arthur and I wasn't disappointed with Full Moon Rising. I love Riley - she is a feisty heroine who can kick ass with the best of them but she also has a softer more sensitive side. What can I say about Quinn apart from the fact that I loved him? He is a super hot, sexy alpha male and definitely my new book boyfriend! I'm hoping we get to see a lot more of him in future books in the series. Although we don't get to know Rhoan as well as we know Riley I'm looking forward to finding out more about him and his partner.

I really liked the fact that Riley & Rhoan are werewolf / vampire hybrids - this puts an interesting spin on them & gives them some interesting talents that they wouldn't have if they were just one or the other - I'm sure this will probably show even more in future books. Keri is a master at world building and even though this is the first book in a series I didn't feel any confusion about Riley's world. Although there is a lot of sex in the story (including some great scenes with Quinn) there is also plenty of action and some great twists in the plot. I would definitely recommend this series to urban fantasy fans and I'm looking forward to reading about more of Riley's adventures.

  2. Hi Heather, I loved this one & can't wait to read more :o) I really want to order the series but I'm on a book buying ban so I've had to content myself with ordering them from the library. Will buy them when I can afford books again though LOL. I'm so pleased to know Quinn is in more books - he is HOT & my newest book boyfriend hehe
