Review: Wolf Signs - Vivian Arend

Robyn Maxwell doesn’t care that her brother has to cancel out on their backcountry ski trip. She can do it alone. The fact she’s deaf doesn’t make her survival skills any weaker. The chance to get away from it all and relax in the Yukon wilderness is just what she’s been craving.

Meeting wilderness guide Keil at the cabin starts cravings of another kind. Keil’s one hot hunk of ripped, tasty male. Now she has to deal with raging hormones as well as strange questions about wolves and mates and challenges to the death.

Keil was trying for a nice reflective retreat before challenging for the Alpha position of his Alaskan pack. He wasn’t planning on meeting the woman destined to be his mate, or finding out she’s not aware she has the genes of a wolf.

Between dealing with his accident-prone younger brother, a deaf mate with an attitude and an impending duel to the death, his week—and his bed—is suddenly full.

Far from the relaxing getaway any of them had in mind…

Review:
Robyn was supposed to be going on a trip to the isolated mountain cabin with her brother Tad but when he has to work she is determined to go alone.  She isn't going to let the fact that she is deaf get in her way & stop her doing anything.  She gets more than she bargained for when she literally bumps into TJ and Keil in a rather embarassing situation.

Keil instantly recognises Robyn as his mate but he already has plenty on his plate with his upcoming challenge to become pack alpha.  Things are made even more difficult when he realises that Robyn has no idea that she has werewolf genes - it isn't going to be easy to explain things to her and get her to believe they belong together.

Although I felt that Robyn accepted the fact that she is a werewolf a little too quickly and easily I loved the passion between her & Keil.  Keil is definitely one hot alpha male but Robyn is also strong enough to be an alpha in her own right so they are a very good match.  I loved the twist that Vivian Arend has put on the usual werewolf mythology and am looking forward to finding out more about this in future books in the series.  TJ was a great secondary character & I really hope we get to read both his & Tad's stories in future books.

I thought this was a great start to the series and it had a bit of everything that makes a paranormal romance great - romance, passion and a little comedy and action thrown in for good measure.  This really was a great quick read & I was quickly caught up in the story - I would have liked it to be longer though!  I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series

  1. I liked all of the Wolf books by Vivian Arend. I briefly reviewed Wolf Signs here. I didn't know that we would have a fourth one coming out this fall. I hope it is TJ's story.

  4. Great review, Sarah! I'm really intrigued, but... is this one of those books that's full of sex, or is there a lot of story too? Knowing what I've said previously, do you think this is my sort of book? Thanks for the review!

  5. Stephanie - the covers for this series are really pretty but I think the one for Wolf Games is my favorite :o)

Jo - there is plenty of sexual tension but not lots of sex so I think you'd be ok with it :o) I'd be interested to see what you think of it!
