Review:
The most important thing in Marcy's life is her young daughter, everything she does she does for Charlie and dating has become a thing of the past. That all changes when her best friend's brother makes a move on her at an engagement party, Marcy has had a crush on Aaron since she was seventeen years old but this is the first hint that her feelings are reciprocated. Aaron has wanted Marcy for as long as he can remember but circumstances have always kept them apart, now he's had a taste though and nothing will stop him from making Marcy and Charlie a permanent part of his life.

His to Keep is a novella in Katee Robert's Out of Uniform series and although Marcy and Aaron didn't play much of a role in the first book (I only remember one very brief conversation with Marcy & I don't think Aaron made an appearance at all) this story does give us the chance to catch up with Bri, Ryan, Avery and Brent which I really loved.

As this is a fairly short story (around 100 pages) the romance between Marcy and Aaron develops very quickly but because of the history between them I didn't have too much trouble with that. They have great chemistry and I loved the way Aaron looks out for Marcy. The epilogue was completely adorable and made my heart melt a little.

Overall His to Keep is a great read it's a hot and spicy with great characters and a really sweet romance and I'd definitely recommend it. I'm really excited to read Avery and Brent's story next too, this series is another winner from Katee Robert.

Review:
I always enjoy Katee Robert's books when I'm looking for some brain candy, if you want a story that is funny, sweet and hot then you really can't go wrong with anything she's written and In Bed with Mr. Wrong is a perfect example of why.

Bri and Ryan are set up on a blind date by Ryan's brother Drew who also happens to be one of Bri's best friends. After a huge misunderstanding things are pretty much a disaster from the start and the pair can't seem to resist sniping at each other. Even though they can't seem to stop arguing there is no denying the attraction they feel for each other, and their rows always seem to end in kisses hot enough to set them both on fire. Bri is determined to avoid Ryan and the temptation he offers, especially since she knows that he'll be leaving in a couple of weeks on his next tour of duty and getting involved is almost guaranteed to end in heartbreak but Ryan is desperate to get to know her better. When they end up stranded in a cabin for three days thanks to the help of some meddling friends it doesn't take them long to realise what an amazing physical connection they have but can they stop arguing long enough to find out if they actually have enough in common to build a lasting relationship.

I really liked both of the main characters, Bri is quite shy until you get to know her but she's also incredibly down to earth and the kind of woman you could easily be friends with. She's never had much in the way of a family and all she really wants is to settle down somewhere and build a life for herself, she loves her job as a librarian but she also wants a relationship and to start a family of her own. She loves the small town she has moved to and even enjoys the way everyone knows everyone's business and that people really seem to care about each other. Ryan was the town bad boy growing up and the nosy busybodies have never let him forget it, even though he has achieved a lot in his life as an adult and is proud of his job as an Air Force Pararescuer he always feels like a naughty child in his home town and he has spent years avoiding going back there. The last thing he wants is to settle down, especially in the place he grew up so he really shouldn't be interested in starting anything with Bri. She's unlike any woman he's ever known though and perhaps being with her might make the town feel like home.

I laughed a lot reading this story, trouble certainly seems to follow Ryan around and the couple managed to get into a few embarrassing situations that were really amusing to read about. They were actually a really cute couple and the chemistry between them was incredible. I did get a tiny bit irritated with their constant arguing at one point but I enjoyed the banter between them and I was glad they were able to put their differences behind them. In Bed with Mr. Wrong was a really quick read and I enjoyed every minute of it, I loved the side characters so was really excited to find out that Drew and Avery have a book of their own and I can't wait to see how things play out between them.

Review:
Once again it's been time to say goodbye to a much loved series so I put off reading Darkness Falls for a while even though I was desperate to find out how everything was resolved. One of the things I really love about Keri Arthur is that she never drags her series out just because they're popular, in fact she often ends them before I'm really ready for it. She obviously has her stories planned well in advance and as much as I'm sad to say goodbye to this world, I would rather see things end on a high note than be dragged out forever like some series I won't mention. The Dark Angel series definitely went out with a bang and I have really loved every single book.

I'm not going to say much about what happens in this book but I will tell you that there is plenty of action and we get to see a lot of loose ends tied together. We discover what the future holds for Risa and Azriel, we get a glimpse at all our favourite characters from the previous Riley Jenson series, we finally see Madeleine Hunter make her move to take over the vampire council and we see Risa locate the final key. Once again Risa is working to a very tight schedule, she is doing her best to protect everyone she cares about but with so many enemies coming at her from all different directions it isn't going to be easy to fight them all.

Risa has really come into her own since the beginning of this series, she was already pretty powerful but she's learned a lot about her aedh side and picked up some interesting new abilities thanks to her bond with Azriel. She isn't perfect and she's made mistakes in the past by trusting the wrong people but she has the courage to stand up for herself and others and she always does what she thinks is right. I've loved the relationship between her and Azriel, it hasn't been easy for them but I've been rooting for a happy ending for them for a long time now. You're going to have to read the book for yourselves to see if they get one but I think you'll be happy with the overall outcome of the series.

I'm sad that it's over but I've enjoyed the journey and I'm already looking forward to rereading these books at some point in the future.

On 26th June, with John Green’s support, the publisher is inviting all fans of the book to unite in a ‘Night of Infinities’ and organise fundraising sleepovers nationwide inspired by the book.

The Fault in Our Stars was the UK’s biggest selling novel of 2014 with sales to date exceeding a million copies in the UK alone. The book which tells the story of Hazel and Gus, two extraordinary teenagers, who first meet at a cancer support group has resonated with readers of all ages.

Penguin and Teenage Cancer Trust hope that the younger end of the novel’s fan base will be inspired to help raise money to support the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer aged between 13 and 24.

Review:
Lucky is a psychic with the ability to see ghosts, something that has always made people look at her a little strangely and made her a bit of an outcast. In fact, her best (and only) friend is a ghost called Kayla who has been by her side for as long as she can remember. Lucky generally tries to keep herself to herself but when she receives a call from her old school about a ghost problem they're having she agrees to help by performing an exorcism. It's only when she gets there and discovers that the problem is actually demon related that Lucky realises she's in over her head and her world is turned upside down when she makes a startling discovery about her best friend. Not only is Lucky now being hunted by a demonic assassin but she finds herself in the middle of a political battle over who gets to rule the Underlands.

Marked is Sue Tingey's debut novel and she really starts her Soulseer Chronicles with a bang, I love discovering new authors and my only disappointment here is that I'm now going to have to wait a year for the next instalment. This is the kind of story that sucks readers in very quickly and you end up completely losing track of time while you're reading. The world building was clever, I enjoyed the contemporary British setting and feel to the beginning of the story but I also loved getting to visit the parallel world of the Underlands. Imagine heaven and hell aren't two places but instead one place combined, a place where demons of all manner roam alongside guardian angels. Not all demons are evil and not all of the angelic creatures are good so it's not always easy to spot friend from foe. This is the world that Lucky finds herself drawn into thanks to her relationship with Kayla. Lucky is completely thrown by everything she discovers, she is confused, shocked and scared but at the same time it is exhilarating getting to explore a new world and she soon realises that she could have a very different life in the Underlands to the lonely existence she had at home. She just has to decide what kind of future she wants.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Lucky and Kayla, they have been friend's for Lucky's entire life but Kayla has been keeping some huge secrets and that really effects the way Lucky sees her. Lucky is initially heartbroken by the way she feels that Kayla has betrayed her and it's not going to be easy for her to get past the lies and untruths she has been told. Their relationship is complicated but there is a strong bond between them and it's obvious that Kayla has Lucky's best interests at heart. There are some other really fantastic side characters in the book too, a particular favourite has to be the dragon Pyrites who was absolutely adorable but I also found myself incredibly amused by Lucky's bodyguards Mr Kerfuffle and Mr Shenanigans.

If you had told me about a potential love triangle before I picked up this book I probably would have been hesitant to read it, I'm so sick to death of that trope that it's starting to spoil books for me, but I have to admit that it is done really well here. Lucky has caught the attention of Guardian Angel Jamie as well as Jinx, the Daemon of Death, and it's very easy to see why they both hold such appeal to her. Jamie and Jinx are almost complete opposites and it's impossible to decide if I prefer the dark and brooding bad boy or the enigmatic angel. In fact I'm really, really, REALLY hoping that she's going to keep them both, there were a few hints that they'd be open to sharing and that's definitely the outcome I'm rooting for!!

Marked is a fantastic start to this new series, it has plenty of action, some great twists, brilliant characters, realistic world building and just a hint of romance. The story is a great mix between urban fantasy and straight up fantasy and I'm looking forward to more of that as the series continues. It's definitely a book I'll be reading again and I'll be eagerly waiting for the next book when it releases next spring.

Review:
Carlisle was an Olympic swimming champion with 12 medals to her name when a terrorist bomb turned her world apart, not only did she watch her boyfriend and most of her friends die but she was injured so badly that she's facing the risk of permanent paralysis. Her life has she knew it is over and she'd rather take her own life than spend it in a wheelchair. Mateo has his own problems and is still struggling to cope with his grief and anger over his sister's death. Neither of them are looking for a relationship but they can't deny the chemistry the feel. Can two damaged people find a way to heal themselves and each other.

I loved Temptation so I was really excited to get my hands on this sequel, especially when I found out that Mateo is Matt's cousin so we'd get to catch up with the previous couple as well as meet a new one. I had high hopes for Salvation and I have to say that Robin Covington once again pulled it out of the bag when it comes to creating scorching sexual chemistry between her characters. Carlisle and Mateo burn up the sheets and I enjoyed spending time with them. I was actually a bit nervous about how Carlisle's injury would be handled but I thought the author did a great job of tackling a difficult subject with sensitivity. As much as I hated the way Carlisle was so convinced that life in a wheelchair wouldn't be worth living I could certainly feel her pain and uncertainty, she had been through so much and I don't think anyone knows how they would react to that unless they were in her position.

Everything was going really well and I was loving the book until about three quarters of the way through when Carlisle made a decision that really bothered me. I can't really talk about it in detail without giving spoilers so I'll just say that I think she took the easy way out and that I would have enjoyed the last part of the book so much more if she'd just taken a different route. It didn't help that I hated Mateo's reaction to what she did. As much as I could understand where they were both coming from some things really bother me in romance and this was one of them. I'm well aware of the fact that most people wouldn't have the same issue here that I did though so I know a lot of people will love the story in spite of that.

Even with the part that upset me I still enjoyed reading Salvation, I particularly loved the changes we saw in Carlisle towards the end of the book and I was proud of the way she had pulled her life back together. This is an intense story, one that is full of emotion and fantastic chemistry between the main characters. We are also introduced to the main characters for the next book, Redemption, and I'm particularly excited about getting to spend more time with Zane and Emory!

Spanish Lessons:

I take her out onto the deck. There are fewer people here and I find a quiet corner where I can touch her and talk to her without interruption.

“You want anything to drink?”

“Nope.” She places her water bottle on the railing. “That’s not my preferred buzz.”

“I’ve heard that.”

“You’ve been checking up on me.”

“I hear things.” I smile and lean down until our forehead touch heads and I can feel her breath on my face. She steps into me and I place my hands on her hips. We fit together perfectly and I can’t help but imagine how good it will be when all these clothes are out of the way. “I thought you wouldn’t be here tonight because you have a Spanish exam on Monday.”

I want to kiss the corner of her mouth where her lips form a tease of a smile. “I’m going to ace the written exam.” Her smile droops a little. “The verbal portion... it might get ugly.”

That is an understatement. I have never heard anyone butcher the Spanish language like Carlisle Queen. Yes, I’m biased because I grew up in a bilingual household but she is terrible. I once thought you’d have to work hard to pronounce things as badly as she does. Not Carlisle. For her, it comes naturally.

I open up a little space in between us but I keep my hands on her hips, even letting the right one dip to cup the sexy, round swell of her ass.

“I think you need to practice. Use me.” When one auburn eyebrow lifts I smile at her dirty mind.

“That’s for later. Show me what you’ve got.”

“Me gustaría pedir del menu,” she says and I strain a muscle hiding my wince.

“Okay, so you want to order from a menu.” I nod and when her eyes light up with hope, I shake it in the negative. “That was awful. Try again.” I demonstrate the proper way to say it and then urge her to try again. “Don't pick some random sentence. Just talk to me. Tell me what you want me to know.”

She considers me for a moment and then the wicked gleam is back and she steps even closer to me. “Creo que eres caliente”.

She thinks I’m hot. Good to know.

“Better,” I murmur. “Try another.”

“Quiero saber cómo te gusto.”

She wants to know how I taste.

I groan as she leans in close, her lips hovering over mine a demonstration of what she wants. I want it too. I chase her mouth but she partially turns her face to the side while keeping her eyes locked on mine. Her hands are on my chest and I know she can feel the pounding in my chest at her next practice line.

“Te quiero a ti dentro de mí.”

Fuck. She wants me inside her.

“That’s what I want too. To be inside you, to feel your long legs wrapped around my waist.” I trace her lips with my tongue, capturing her own moan on the tip and savoring her surrender. “Come with me. I want to touch you and I’m not doing it with an audience.”

I enter the door we just passed through and lead her down the back hallway, heading for the stairs and my bedroom. I make it halfway down the deserted hallway and I can’t wait another minute. I push her against the wall, raising one arm to bracket us in. She tips her head to look up at me and I get lost for a moment in her eyes. Usually the color of emerald, they are nearly black with her arousal. Her gaze flickers down to my mouth and I grin.

“Voy a besarte ahora,” I whisper, the only warning of what I’m about to do. She understands me, her breath catching just before I angle my head and take her mouth.
