Quick Review: Bridge of Snow - Marie Rutkoski

Bridge of Snow is a free short story set in the world of the Winner's Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski and it can be read on the Tor website here.

Ignore the stirrings of war. Let the carriage to a royal ball wait. There is a story to be told: of a starless night, a mother and her sick son, and a mortal who falls in love with the snow god, and will do anything to have her...

Bridge of Snow is a fab short story set in the same world as The Winner's Curse that can be read for free on the Tor website here. I love it when authors give readers little extra glimpses into their worlds and this is a great example of that.

I don't want to say too much about the story so I'll just tell you that it's about one of the main characters from The Winner's Curse, Arin, when he was just eight years old. The story is told from the point of view of his mother and it was a really bitter sweet insight into his childhood before the Valorians invaded Herran.

Bridge of Snow doesn't give any spoilers so if you're new to the series you can start here and get a good idea of Marie Rutoski's writing style. I'm sure this will leave you wanting to pick up The Winner's Curse though so you can find out what happens to Arin next!
