Review: You Own Me - Shiloh Walker

It had always been her...

Ten years had passed since the doors slammed shut behind Decker Calhoun, taking away his freedom, but more importantly, locking him away from Elizabeth Waters, the only woman he’d ever loved—the woman he’d given up everything for.

The day he was sentenced, he’d looked at her and said, No regrets, Lizzie. But he lied, because he did have one. Although he’s been out of jail for three years now, he was a year too late. Lizzie never knew how he felt and just months before he was released, she found somebody else and it’s too late.

Or maybe not. It seems that Lizzie’s boyfriend wants an open relationship and two can play at that game. Now all Decker has to do is convince Lizzie that he’s the better man...and has been all along.

Review:
Decker has been in love with Lizzie forever but never felt he was good enough for her. He gave up everything to protect her though and has spent the last 10 years in jail paying for his over protectiveness. Lizzie stood by him when he went to jail and her letters and visits were the only thing that kept him sane. He always hoped that when he was released he would have a second chance to win her heart but months before his release she started dating Noel. Now, three years on, Decker has to watch as Noel treats Lizzie badly and constantly lets her down but he doesn't know how to tell her how he feels. Then when Noel breaks Lizzie's heart by telling her he wants an open relationship Decker sees his perfect opportunity to show her how much he cares. Can he convince her that they are the perfect couple?

I absolutely loved You Own Me and Decker is the perfect protective alpha who would do anything for the woman he loves. As much as I don't agree with the actions that got him sent to prison in the first place he has paid for his crimes and he's no longer the hot headed teen that he was back then. He's grown up a lot and although he will protect Lizzie from anyone who threatens her he no longer needs to resort to such brutal measures to do it. Lizzie's relationship with Noel has been a mentally abusive one, Noel constantly puts her down and makes her feel bad about herself and Lizzie's confidence is at an all time low. Decker is the one man who has always been there for her and he works so hard to help Lizzie realise how beautiful she really is and he is constantly showing her just how attractive he finds her curvy figure.

Can I just say how much I loved reading about a normal woman, someone who has hips and a bum and who isn't a skinny size 8. Lizzie has a full figure and Decker loves that about her, Noel made her feel that she was never good enough but Decker shows her the opposite and I loved seeing her confidence blossom and watching her become more outgoing and happy. Considering this novella is just under 100 pages I found I was incredibly invested in these characters and I enjoyed spending time with them. You Own Me is full of sweet and touching moments but there is plenty of heat too and you'll soon discover that Decker and Lizzie have fantastic chemistry together. I was rooting for them from the beginning and couldn't wait to see them get to their happy ever after.
